All this within the last 10 years. That is a horrible record, certainly the worst I have ever seen.
Saw C-FSMK Cessna 208 (float-equipped) gear up landing at CZBA today around 4pm. Looked like minimal or no damage...took about 45 minutes to get her operational. Those floats aren't really meant for asphalt, are they?

Narrative: The amphibious float-equipped Jetport Inc. Cessna C-208B Grand Caravan aircraft was on a VFR flight from Lake Joseph to Burlington Airpark (CZBA). The aircraft was landing on the grass runway 27 (as runway 14/32 was closed for re-paving). The aircraft landed hard and stopped on the runway. T.S.B. investigators deployed to the site and reported that the right rear float strut failed at the attachment point and the middle float strut also failed at the fuselage attachment point and punctured the fuselage. Narrative: UPDATE Supplemental information received from T.S.B. Initial Notification (#A07O0158): The amphibious float-equipped Cessna Caravan 208 (operated by Jetport Inc.) was inbound for Burlington, ON. As the main runway was closed for re-paving, the flight crew elected to land on the shorter, grass-covered runway. The aircraft landed hard and the starboard rear float strut failed at the lower attachment point. The aircraft came to rest on the runway with the right horizontal stabilizer finlet resting on the ground and the aircraft listing to the right side. The aircraft incurred substantial damage, however, there were no injuries to the two (2) crew members and the two (2) passengers. T.S.B. investigators were deployed to the occurrence site.

Something as simple as asking yourself that question every time you turn final in an amphibian will assure that you have the correct gear selection for the surface you are about to land on.........
.......pilots are like children, they have a short attention span....so you must answer the question you just asked yourself for that check to work.
