swixtt, in the Peoples Socialist Republic of Canada the population has become so immune to taxes the government now adds fees for most every service or question you ask of them.

The medical validation fee is another tax that Transport Canada levies on every pilot medical that is done in Canada....they charge $55.00 for a " Validation " fee...most of the sheep in Canada meekly pay these " fees " which are just another money grab under extortion.....it is interesting to note that some Doctors still do the complete medical for that amount.

Go figure.

Tim Tam, you are wrong, I did not pay those fees.

For around ten years I did not pay them.

I used TC's loophole for willingly paying said fees......the loophole being they would deduct it from any tax rebate coming to me........when I was self employed I had the neurons to know not to over pay my taxes, therefore TC could not collect.

They finally took it off my last tax returns as I am now back in the land of socially engineered sheep and our accountant showed me a way to get a rebate on our last tax returns......even though I had to give up $935.00 to TC's little fee scam it was well worth the small loss to collect the windfall I received from your government.

By the way if some of that money was yours, thanks because it will pay my moorage fees for my sail boat among other things.

If I recall correctly correctly there never used to be a $55 charge.
Then out of no where one year they decided from now on we need $55 after you get your medical done to process the paperwork.
So my question is why should we pay this extra $55 on top of paying to get our medical done if we never did before...
Nothings changed except they feel they need more money, and Hedley's right, we don't even receive the AIP/AIM anymore.
So they're making us pay more, and we're getting less.....?

What if next year they decide that it'll cost $95 to process it, you still going to be fine with paying it?
Where do you draw the line?

Respectfully ., you still ended up paying the fee. You can't outrun it. You cannot gain any satisfaction from the measley 50 bucks can you?

You gotta "pay to play", it is no different in other fields. I do agree with you, it is a silly charge, but it is there, it is THEIR requirement, so I pay it.

Now, if you had bought 50 bucks of Westjet shares each of those 10 years........

What you pay your Doctor for your medical goes to your Doctor. The $55 is a processing fee paid to the government to issue your LVC. There is a difference.

I refer you to my previous posts to give some insight as to why there is now a processing fee. You are chipping away at the $22,000 you already owe. If the fee goes up to $95 I encourage you to complain to your MP and vote the government of the day out. But the debt will still be there because it's not attached to any political party, it's connected to you.

Face it, user fees are legal and they're here to stay for the foreseeable future. You're not a sheep for paying it any more than Cat's customers are for paying what they owe him.

Tim Tam, you are correct eventually they grind it out of us but I look at as if I were in prison and was faced with the warden wanting to ass fu.k me because he had the power to do so, I would resist as long as I had the strength to do so.....must be the era I came from when people actually had the savvy to question why before bending over.

Gotta love the system you Canadians have now though where the social engineering programs the population from birth to do as they are told by big brother without a whimper of complaint.

How far is the leap from here to the culture where you strap explosives around your children and women and have them sacrifice their lives for the cause?

By the way I have friends flying for West Jet and from what they tell me if I were young again and wanted to fly for an Airline that would by choice.....
