Hard to believe the investigation will find the crew at fault. The aircraft was pretty much abeam taxiway B2 but pointed in the opposite direction to the taxiway, facing right as opposed to left.

Hopefully it was just a bad day for boeing/air france mtce dept or a mechanical fault.

The strange thing, it looks like he's off the right side of the runway. The taxiway is on the other side.

Interesting tire marks - wouldn't/shouldn't there be some anti-skid pulse marks? Anybody here got some heavy time or can explain the tire marks? Is the anti-skid so rapid that it would appear to be a continuous skid-mark?

I vote for mechanical failure of some kind.

I don't know about the 747, but the Antiskid on the A330/340 deactivates below 10 kts groundspeed, and the 320 below 20 kts. Nothing mentioned in the 767 or 777 manuals, but that doesn't mean it doesn't disconnect as well on Boeing products.

The centre portion of 24R was recently resurfaced because of almost nil braking when the runway was wet. The problem was worse down near B2 taxiway, but there was no moisture of the day of the incident.

He definitely had them all locked up. Whether that was intentional because he was arcing off the runway in the wrong direction, or whether it was unintentional and caused him to go off the runway remains to be seen.

PS. The antiskid in transport jets is much more sophisticated than on cars. The system compares the wheel speed (from a tachometer on each wheel) to the aircraft speed (from the IRS's). When the wheel speed decreases below from .8 to .9 below the aircraft speed a brake release signal is given to the individual wheel. But it doesn't "pulse", it modulates the pressure to maintain that wheel slip value which is the best braking efficiency.

Looking at the pic of the skidmarks posted by Ralliart, it looks like the darkest marks are those made by the nosewheel being turned to the right stop.

If so, it does start to sound like a mechanical failure or some human/machine interface screw up.

Oh, an just to clarify, the F/A doing a "show" in the cockpit was not AF, she flew for AOM.
