no, he's just pissed at me. At least I think he is. I don't think he's posted since I lambasted him on another thread. Geez, it's just the internet, after all...

He probably has a bottle of Chateau d'Yquem 1993 Vintage and is sharing it with his lovely lady. Chilling it down to 12c and he is daring Air Canada to find the cost(it ain't cheap) of that in his per diem's.

Whiskey breath and the Brewers Droop may hinder Tony's plansFour1oh wrote:Real men drink whiskey on the rocks. Well, real drunk men...

However since we are on the topic of Whiskey, Real, Real men do not ever, ever put ICE in their SINGLE MALT. Americans are the only ones who spoil good single malt with ice, Christ they ever put Soda Water in it......

Re: It's been awfully quiet...
Hate to tell ya but when someone buys a finger of their favourite single malt, it's likely it's already been watered down. Some experts (I'm not one!) will bring the strength down from +40% to about half that - it's all science 'n stuff. Changes the molecular structure and may bring out complexities and entirely new flavours.
I used to subscribe to the "real men don't add anything" school until a friend got me to try a 18 yr old Talkisker with just a hint of distilled water added. You could literally watch the amber-brown goodness swirl around and release this peaty aroma and flavour. Like drinking warm gold. Now I order it straight in a glass with some water in a second glass. No ice!
If I hadn't opened the mind a little I would have missed out. It's just a question of enhancement, not dilution. But in the end no should ever apologize for how they like their alcohol!
Isn't this more fun than bashing Tony for ummm...not bashing WestJet...or whatever?

Re: It's been awfully quiet...
Good post there and you are indeed correct about a smidge of distilled water in your single malt. I do that to my Lagavulin on occasion and brings out the best. Ice is not on for me, though. However as you correctly pointed out, people enjoy their alcohol as they see fit not what others say.
When asked my motto is:“ Scotch – neat, Beer – cold, Steaks – rare, Coffee – black”. That’s me, that’s who I am.

Re: It's been awfully quiet...
I should reiterate that by whiskey i didn't mean single malt. I like my Oban straight up! Lagavulin used to be my favorite, but that smokey peaty heady flavor made for a real nasty hangover when I overdid it one night...

mmmm Oban. Love that stuff. A cheaper alternative is Glenmorangie that is all good. Where do you buy your Oban? The cheapest I've seen is $52 US.

How about this., Air Canada pilots layoffs canceled. Eight new hires on course in September.
Re: It's been awfully quiet...
Mouse: Those "new" hires are actually old hires with reserved seniority numbers from Jazz, some of whom have been waiting for over 2 years.

That's what ive been hearing around Jazz too lately. I flew with one captain who did his interview 3 years ago and is supposed to be starting course next month. Im not sure exactly how many people are moving over though.endless wrote:Mouse: Those "new" hires are actually old hires with reserved seniority numbers from Jazz, some of whom have been waiting for over 2 years.
