A passenger prospective

Post by Quag_mire »

As a passenger that is on westjet very often I would like to say I like westjet and think it is a great airline. I would like the flight attendants to talk less though. I know people including me that get annoyed by the same jokes and same routine every flight. I also would like the uniforms of the pilots and flight attendants to be nicer. All the female should wear skirts, I think the uniforms are so ugly but that is my opinion. At least wj doesn't serve dog food called jet fuel that AC serves.

Keep up the good work!

Good point. No offence to the pilots, more so the people in charge of uniforms, but its hard to tell the pilots apart from a wandering security guard, ie. CATSA. How about a classy suit jacket and not something that looks like they just walked out of Value Village. No need for funny hats though.

Hey, I'd like to have a funny hat to go with my Value Village look !!

Kidding aside, I don't think it makes sense to have FA's in skirts but I wouldn't mind if our pilot uniform got upgraded just a little.

I think everyone is completely aware of how bad the uniforms look... they keep threatening to do it right one day... lets hope. As for the jokes... its a catch 22... the FA's leave them out, people complain 'what? no jokes?'.... and others get sick of the same corny stuff. How would you like to deadhead/commute all the time with that? I'd prefer no jokes, but the style works and keeps people coming back.

The problem is, not everyone is good at telling a joke.

from what I understand, the jackets have removable wings to limit the amount of jackets carried on overnights. Wearing an identifiable piece of the unifrom outside of works is bad optics..period.

I don't dig the uniform either.. hopefully change is on the way.

"Visibly unique and easily contrasted".

If you don't understand that fundamental proposition, you don't understand WestJet and you'd probably be happier somewhere else.

I understand westjet perfectly thanks.. 8)

Just because I don't like the style of uniforms we have, does that make me a bad westjetter??

tsk, tsk reality. By making statements like that, it makes us sound like we should not have an opinion.

Uniform schmuniform...it's about the money and days off per month for me...neither of which are going to decrease in the next agreement (in spite of unofficial chatter from one senior F/O).

Good to know our passengers have good "prospectives" of us.

Just out of curiosity, what would you guys propose (or like to see) as a uniform for pilots and flight attendants?

I work in an environment where I have to wear a poorly fitting flight suit/bag that simply makes me sweat regardless of the temperature and weather. I relish the idea of wearing slacks and a short sleeved shirt to go flying in.

You don't seem to understand the reason for the difference.

Next time you see Clive, ask him about "tweedle dumb and tweedle dumber".

The differences are, and should remain, calculated.

And, the material the F/A's uniforms are made of, can be made into a nice set of drapes.

Just jumping to say I always appreciate Wesjet flights as well. I'll take WJ over AC any day. But gawd, you guys need to work on those landings, you almost broke my neck on flight 501 to Edmonton last wednesday!!

I think that's the point ............ WJ pilots don't want to look like ACA pilots, hence the distinctive lack of tunic and hats.

uniform class is all AC wins at. service they suck, compassion they suck. oh wait....they win at having the oldest F/A's in the biz. well done.

I think you should have a jaunty (lime green) helmet, some goggles, a white silk fringed scarf,
and a curly mustache. THAT is what a pilot is supposed to look like!

LOL! Someone pwned your kittycat.

Ah yes, and I also enjoy flying WJ. I didn't notice the uniforms, but we had quite a lovely little flight attendant. Maybe that's why I liked the jokes.... One of the nerds I had recently just rapidfired the safety briefing though and he was totally unintelligible, it was really unprofessional. But anyway I'll still take WJ anyday...that they're the cheapest.
