FACEBOOKING on FBO computers.
This is simple (or you would think) if there is no other pilots around I say sure play all you want on the FBO flight planning computers. But be aware of other guys standing around waiting to get on those computers. Especially if its a bad weather day.

Re: FACEBOOKING on FBO computers.
Has it really become such an addiction that they must resort to using flight planning computes to play on facebook, really. Buy an iPhone.
There are only 2 useless things in flying; Runway behind you and air above you.
Re: FACEBOOKING on FBO computers.
I have seen people wait to flight plan because someone ''was on the computer''.
Need to lock computers to one site only is my thought...

Re: FACEBOOKING on FBO computers.
In all seriousness I would give someone a minute or two and then ask if I could sneak on to check the weather. I don't mind people checking email ect when they can. Not everybody has a laptop and I have worked long days away from internet when I'm waiting for an important email.
Just like airmanship in an airplane. I find people are lacking a lot of common sense these days. I mean come on if no one is around facebook to your hearts desire but if you can tell people are hovering to use the computer get off. It's not rocket science!

I disagree.skyismine wrote:Need to lock computers to one site only is my thought...
Fact of the matter is, people need to learn some manners. If someone is waiting for the computer, scram. If not, check your email. Or, maybe a tap on the shoulder and an "excuse me, I need the computer, please" would be in order.
The avitat at YXD locked theirs to flight planning only. What a PITA, especially at 3 am when nobody else is around and there's NOTHING to do.
Just my opinon...

This makes scents to me. If you don't have a lap top feel free to use the normal computer. Should solve the issue all together at areas with high computer traffic.pilotbzh wrote:FBO coul invest into a wirless router and leave the access open. pilot can use they own laptop to kill all the time they want....

Since 9/11, not one pilot has hijacked his own aircraft with his tweezers.

hmmm, what is it with pilots ? where is the integrity? Use and abuse ? OR be honourable and integral and do what is RIGHT ??? I guess that amongst every "profession" there are the asses and there are the real men and women !

Re: FACEBOOKING on FBO computers.
What is the reason for much of this ,,,hmmm, let me think ,, Most pilots come from well to do backgrounds , pilot daddies ( dads who are captains at air whatever) and the rest are wanna-be s who will go awhoring and do anything for the chance to FLY ! That leaves a small percentage of pilots who actually view this profession as a serious profession and will WORK for their pay and will respect common sense and others ! Too many pilots are on an ego trip and walk all over proper decorum and respect !!!

Re: FACEBOOKING on FBO computers.
if your there for a quick turn... ask the guy if he minds you using the computer for 3mins to check the weather.. i doubt he will
if your there for an hour or two.. pointless to make a big fuss out of it.. if the kids on facebook for 2hours, dang... props to him! 15mins usually gives you a good enough dose.
as for the free wireless router, if your there for a 10minute turn around just waiting for fuel and to check the weather do you really want to bring out your laptop, turn it on, get all the wireless password information.??

Not sure if it's really people like you mentioned, I tend to think it's more like people are brain dead. It's all about them.
I agree that a router could help. It's a small investment. I've sat around in FBO's for upwards of 3 hours, I could have been posting on AvCanada all that time....
