GPSMAP 195 Yoke Mount & Data Cable

Post by niss »

Does anyone have these parts for sale? Part of my GPS yoke mount is missing, the part that attatches the mount to the yoke rail to be exact.

Thanks!

Did you ever find a source for that missing GPSMAP 195 Yoke Mount? I broke the other part at the hinge point (the bracket part that goes over the yoke and holds the cradle for the GPS unit itself.)

I tried e-bay with no luck.

Thats what I did, I will be on the hunt for a data cable but my mount woes are over.

Good luck with that!

I’ve had some trouble mounting different GPS’s in my plane. The solution I have come up with is a piece if aluminum cut and bent just right, drill a few holes in the back and screw it to your GPS/mount. I use velcro on the dash, and on the bottom of my makeshift aluminum mount. Easy to remove and secure enough for almost any landing style. In your piper put the gps off to the side on top of the dash.

Better yet forget about having a GPS until you have a PPL in hand. There is no reason not to be doing ALL of your navigating on a paper GPS. There will be lots of time to stair at a screen, for now keep your eyes outside.

Cheers

Niss,

There was a used Yoke mount on ebay a couple of weeks ago, but 2 guys duked it out on the bidding and it finally went for around $40.00 Too rich for my blood...

The Garmin yoke mount for the 296, 396 and 496 is essentially the same yoke bracket with a different cradle to hold the GPS. Those are readily available from different suppliers, but they all want $50. to $65. for it. Again, a bit rich for my blood...If you see one available, let me know.

Message to I_reason: The ink on my CPL has been dry for 35 years. The GPS has been a backup only for the Sectional on my lap since 1998.

I hear ya, its been map and DG only so far. But I do keep the GPS in the headset bag for if things get sour. I plan on using pilotage for a while yet.

Niss you had better get practiced up landing on grass. Once you have your PPL I hope to see you out here (close to yxu). You will really enjoy the freedom of having your own plane. I'll give you a ride in my old tail dragger.
