Aerobatics in Canada

Post by Stressmerchant »

First post on Avcanada, guess I have to start somewhere ;-)

I'm going to be working in Canada for a year or two, and was wondering if there is an active aerobatic scene. At the moment I fly Sportsman level in South Africa, competing in four or five competitions a year. I'd love to continue flying aerobatics in Canada, hopefully even to the point of taking part in competitions. Can anyone advise on contacts for recreational aerobatics? I'll be living in London Ontario.

A related questions is about importing aircraft. I'm currently flying a Yak-52, and may consider bringing it over to Canada. How easy is it to operate a Yak-52 in Canada?

Thanks in advance

Try:

As for the Yak 52, it might be a bit complicated. I don't think we have a single Canadian registered Yak52. If it fits in the Warbirds category, it should be easy. If not, than its an other story. There is no such thing as "experimental'' in Canada.

Hope this helps,

Hi,

At Ottawa ther is Ottawa Flying Service. They have a Grob 115 (I think). I contacted them last summer for instructor rating, good contact.

Yup, but the damaged the Grob this summer, leaving them airplaneless (or at least aerobatic airplaneless). Or so I'm told by a friend in the yow tower.
