PT6 Course

Post by Professor Piston »

My company has offered me a PT6 course. The catch is I can choose only one (either the Large or Small series) Another employee will be attending the other. My question is..is there a significant amount of difference between between the small and large that if I choose the small I would not be able to handle the large? or are they similar enough that it does not really matter which I take

The differences are small. I would suggest the large course, to cover the extra bits and pieces not found on the small PT6's.

I would take which ever course would give me knowledge on either the most common engine in my fleet/area, or which ever course could give me any advantage for better shifts/pay etc.. I have taken both courses and they are similar I found it would have been easier to take the Large and learn some stuff to pick up your small/Medium differences. Just tell your instructor you would like him to cover some differences and he will, it wont reflect on your certificate but at least it will help you.
