Holy crap! That's unheard of! A rumour?!

I heard they were buying Q400's to fly Blanc-Sablon - Pearson direct 4 times daily. Anyone else hear anything?

Ok, I'll be more direct.

I heard they are bankrupt, any truth to this?

Also heard that Provincial Airlines is trying to buy them and they wont sell...

I think Slappy is a little closer to the truth... with the load factors and the ticket prices
they should be doing just fine, not to mention the contracts they have. But I maybe
wrong.

I think the more appropriate question would be to ask yourself who would name a dog after an big chunk of Atlantic Canada... Or who would name that chunk after the guy who discovered it... Well "discovered" is not the right term I guess, as others were there before him, namely the Vikings, but the Vikings weren't there to sue over naming rights, plus they're quite happy having had Air Viking already named after them. ;)
I guess history is written by the winners (survivors?).

So everytime a Lab barks or Air Lab chimes in on a frequency, good old Fernandes Lavrador, a brave Portugese explorer has a reason to smile in that big uncharted ocean he's sailing on these days...

Cheers!

In the mean time I'll dream of being able to afford renting a twotter to go hiking in the Turngats and wish Air Labrador the best!

BP, you're right and anytime your're welcome for a ride I can tell you. Wanna go to Nain for a ride? As a pilot they ll welcome you arms open. That's the labradorians mentality. Our company has been going for 60 years since 1948. I'm not part of DHC-6 operation but proud to be one of them, safely bolted on my seat and no reason to leave. And Labrador Airways LTD is there to stay.

I have good reasons to think they're going to City Center - not Pearson.

They had a posting for payroll clerks and another position in the weekend paper in YYT so I don't think they're in too much trouble as of now.

The latest rumor, is that they are trying to get out of the business.... not to be sold to Provincial Airlines but rather Air Inuit. I talked to a buddy of mine that works there and he said there is definetly something up, but its all pure speculation on behalf of the employees from what they have been seeing. Pretty interesting.

Flight crew been advised of employment termination. Montreal flights are shutting down. B1900 operation might continue for a while but who knows about that. Looks like financial trouble for these guys. 2 out of 3 dash-8 grounded

Yeah things are pretty scary there now but I think the 1900's will be fine especially since they have the hospital contract and no airline has ever survived on the Quebec Lower North Shore without it.

Are you sure about the hospital contract? I thought Straits Air had that contract using a KA100!

Strait Air's got the medevac contract. Labair's got the non-urgent patient carrying contract where pax fly from coast to Quebec for hospital appointments. Things are going to be changing for the next couple of weeks.

I don't think it will be only the Dash-8 ops. All Air Labrador is sinking due of a really good management. We will see in couple of month who is right!
