NEWARK, Ohio — Central Ohio authorities have filed felony charges against a 15-year-old girl accused of taking nude cell phone photos of herself and sending them to high school classmates.
Police say the Newark Licking Valley student was arrested Friday and held over the weekend. On Monday, she entered denials to juvenile charges of illegal use of a minor in nudity-oriented material and possession of criminal tools.
A spokeswoman for the Ohio attorney general's office says an adult convicted of the child pornography charge would have to register as a sexual offender, but a judge would have flexibility on the matter with a convicted juvenile.
A prosecutor says Licking County authorities also considering charges for students who received the photos.
If she was my daughter she would be in trouble with ME (and her mother). It's not child pornography if A) she did it to herself and B) If the recipients were of an age with the girl. Weird, and disturbing yes. Illegal I dispute
Could be an interesting way to set up a teacher that you don't like (assuming you're 15)... take pictures of yourself nude, then e-mail them to the teacher and "accidentally" cc the principal...
Nothing if the naked body is of legal age. FYI, a nude photo of an underage minor for sexual purposes is frowned upon in most countries. The child pornography laws are meant to fight the exploitation of children for sexual purposes, and I don't think that standard can be applied in this case. This is pretty heavy handed stuff where a talk with the parents and counsellor would probably suffice.
Seriously, does this kind of shit really surprise anyone anymore. We're talking about a society that sues when they burn themselves with coffee because the cup wasn't labeled hot!

Agree or dissagree with a age of consent of 14 in this country but at least most of us can recognize that when two kids do something consentual instead of going on a witch hunt!

I guess they can keep tricking themselves through. I wouldn't imagine that any person would want to act on the sex drive their bodies gave them at the age of 12ish.
I certainly do agree with what the laws original intent is, to protect children from the abuse of adults. But puleese! I still cant believe that we are so enlightened to recognize that kids are sexually maturing at 12ish but try to criminilize people for acting on a basic instinct until they reach an age that todays society (for whatever reason) sees fit.

If the kid is guilty of anything, it's nothing more than terminal stupidity. I hope she now realizes that her nude pic is probably on a thousand hard discs for the rest of whatever.
just wow. No i don't support what she did (i might if i was a 15 year old class mate) but that is not how that law works AT ALL.
