Which Party/Candidate has most aviation friendly platform?

Post by Anti-Ice »

Anyone?

I just saw a brief blurb on CBC that the Tories want to allow 49% foreign ownership of airlines to increase cashflow to airlines...don't really know much else about the others. Is increased foreign ownership even a good thing?

I welcome all ideas and opinions.

All I can say is as long as it's only 49% a foreign entity can't have majority control over the company's decisions. How does 49% ownership compare to non-aviation companies?

Yes but 49% would certainly provide for a controling interest, unless the other 51% is held by one entity.

I remember a question on CBC 2 nights ago from a King Air pilot to Stephan Dion about the aviation industry and if there are any mesures planned to help companies survive the crisis. He kept coming back to Bombardier building greener planes.... I guess he could blame that one of his lack of comprehension of the English language too...

A vote for the Conservatives = sustainable aviation jobs (proposed reduction in jet fuel tax!).
A vote for the Liberals = a vote for the aviation killing and economy killing greensh*t!
Yes, the enviroment is important but IMHO putting food on the table and paying for my mortgage is a
lot more important than some crazy untried large taxation increase on polluters who will only just pass it on
to the comsumers!
Lets keep aviation strong!

VOTE CONSERVATIVE!!

Any ideas about how the proposed carbon tax might affect the cost of business in aviation?

Why all the fuss about percentage of ownership of airlines based in Canada?

Canadians have no problem with being customers of such well known foreign owned operations as Tim Horton’s and The Bay. They use computers with operating systems that are supplied, and thus controlled by, foreign companies such as Apple, Microsoft and IBM. They use the foreign controlled Internet. The Honda Civic, the best selling car in Canada, is made by a foreign owned company. Canadians by the bus load even support foreign owned and based sports teams such as the Buffalo Bills and Detroit Lions in preference to Canadian sports teams such as the Hamilton Tiger-cats or Toronto Argonauts.

The real issue is which party/candidate will be best for all aviation in Canada regardless of who owns or controls it. The reality is that none are likely to be of any use. There is no pro-aviation lobby in Canadian politics like there is in the USA. The various interest groups in Canadian aviation refuse to work together on such tactics as strategic voting to get the attention of their so-called political representatives. Nothing will change after tomorrow!

A vote for Harper will only bring lower paying jobs in all sector of the economy including aviation, I can see the open sky filled with US fly for food pilot and emb captain flying for 50k a year, Dash 8 captain at 35K a year.... food stamp for FOs... just like in the US. Creating new job is good only if it is a good paying full time jobs, Wall mart or tim hortons clerks don't fall in that categorie. 100000 new job created sounded good, but in that time 10000 good paying jobs have been lost and not replaced by any of those 100000 new position. If your ready for a pay cut Vote Conservateur, you'll pay less taxes with your new salary
