Vacation Bids

I've got to say our system of vacation bids is great.
Round 1 just ended and I got all 6 weeks I wanted without using hardly any points (15 out of 119).

Mind you I didn't bid mid summer or Christmas but I did take Easter. This last summer I took 2 weeks in July and it also was a freebie (that's why the 119 points). Works out well so if I want a month next summer for Australia it's doable.

How did the rest of you find it?

Well I got 3 of the 4 I asked for, cost me 5 points.

I had 143 points to start with.
Spent 51 on Xmas alone, but got all 6 blocks that I asked for

damn, only got 3 of 6, but that's what I get for wanting 1 in july, august, and xmas.

Got all six weeks as well. Bid 40 points on Xmas, and got it for 36 pts. Labour Day weelkend (my boy's birthday) cost me 5 points. One week each in Jan, Feb, March, Apr cost 1 point each.

Good system. Fair system. Was it the Air Atlantic influx in 1996 who brought it to WJ?

not sure. I know we had it at Air Atlantic and I've not heard of it at other Canadian airlines. Certainly not seniority based ones.

I got all six weeks in the first round. I take a week every second month. I end this year and start next with a week off each.
I have quite a few points left over for next year.
