Required reading for pilots

Post by airway »

I thought I would start a list of non-fiction books that every Canadian pilot should read at some point in their career.

I'm missing a good Instrument Procedure, Multi-Engine, And large Jet Manual.

Flight Training Manual
From the Ground Up
Pilot Operating Handbook for the aircraft you are flying
Transport Canada's Human Factors books
The AIM
The CAR'S
Canada Flight Supplement
Flight Test Guides
Aeronautics Act
CAP GEN
Written exam study guides
Company Operations Manual

Feel free to add.

Great book! I used to teach survival courses out of this. Anyone know how to get ahold of one? I've had little luck looking on amazon.com etc. It was an RCAF publication when I had access to it.

Air Weather Command Manual
Fly The Wing
Think you meant 'Air Command Weather Manual'... excellent book on aviation weather since it constantly relates how the weather affects the aircraft performance.

Having a standard that pilots lose their licence after making a mistake despite doing no harm to aircraft or passengers means soon you needn't worry about a pilot surplus or pilots offering to fly for free. Where do you get your experience from?

Books

Post by k411 »

Just wondering if anyone knows of any good aviation books? I've been looking around on chapters website, but their browsing system honestly sucks, so I figured why not try and see what you guys would recommend?

In particular, I am looking for books that relate to:
Corporate Aviation
Airlines
Books by Airline Pilots discussing the life
Perhaps one of those books that discusses building aircraft. Specifically the 737 (I Read the one on the 777, so I would be curious to read one on the 737)
Commercial aviation in general
Private aviation (Kinda like a pilots perspective kinda sorta thing...)
Military Aviation
And just generally any other book that pertains to aviation.

So if you guys wouldn't mind suggesting some Aviation related reading material, that would be greatly appreciated (Especially considering the length of the flight to Hawaii coming up in 2 weeks 8) )
