Whoa good thing. I was worried about those flying sharks there for a bit.
Re: CF-18 over Hawaii: Breathtaking
If you think a clapped out CF-18 is the most stunning thing you've ever seen, what do you think of this:

Re: CF-18 over Hawaii: Breathtaking
I will take the CF-18 over the Raptor, mainly cause it has a Maple Leaf on the tail!

The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Re: CF-18 over Hawaii: Breathtaking
I wonder if other airplanes drink enough, would it turn into an CF-18?
Tugboats need love too, I know ..

Sure you can...but only once. And you have to hurry.

Here is a picture of the thing moving under it's own power changes in Latitudes.
Same airplane different paint job for different client.

That is one of my favourites taken taxiing down the Senegal River in St Lewis, Senegal.....a real nice African scene.

That is not bad,...and cheaper than the Raptor
Success in life is when the cognac that you drink is older than the women you drink it with.
Re: CF-18 over Hawaii: Breathtaking
Given equal pilots, I don't who would win a maneuvering fight between it and the F-22. But in reality the F-22 would blot this out of the sky before he even knew the Raptor was there. That makes it pretty cost effective.Expat wrote:That is not bad,...and cheaper than the Raptor

Re: CF-18 over Hawaii: Breathtaking
I believe it is to retrieve/ Launch a Zodiac (seal team or something) It doesn't really float but you can lower the back end in the water enough for the boat to drive up inside (just like the sinking aircraft carriers)
Re: CF-18 over Hawaii: Breathtaking
I don't think the airframe can actually float, but with power on and good piloting they can do this:joco wrote:Can somebody elaborate on this picture ...please ... what capability does the a/c have.. float?

As much as I despise the US Army, those Chinook guys can fly.
At least the ones I got to play with.
They can lift around 20,000 lbs externally on a good day.
Give's my CH-53E bubba's a run for their money.
