Lockheed Lodestar
I am trying to locate a Lockheed Lodestar my father briefly owned in the mid 70's. All I know of it is the name of my fathers company that owned it was Airberta Farms and the last Canadian registration it had was CF-PPL, PPL stands for Pacific Petroleum Ltd. long time owners of the aircraft.
If anyone has any info. on it's whereabouts or history it would be appreciated.
Cheers, Roar

Re: Lockheed Lodestar
Airberta Farms used to be the Clayton brothers. Mel is still around in Airdrie and can be found in the phone book.
As I recall, they used the Lodestar for a couple years as a corporate machine, flying charters for whoever. It was based, along with their spray planes at their farm, near Crossfield on the east side of Highway 2. Some thought was given to converting it to a sprayer, but they sold it instead. I wasn't paying too much attention to what Mel was saying, but I seem to remember that when they sold it, it disappeared into the USA at very low level, and they were eventually called by US Customs to explain why their plane was involved in questionable flights over the border. For some reason the new owner didn't bother reregistering the Lodestar in his name.

Click here, CF-PPL c/n 2345 appears on this list, so it's a start.
Re: Lockheed Lodestar
Trevor, I am Mel's son and your info. is spot on. It was sold to some less than reputable people who never re-registered it, after the Police inquired about who it was sold to that was the last we ever heard of CF-PPL.
thanks for the responses
