Generally, they'll just ask you your forum name, and what you think of SnJ, and while one makes idle chit chat the other will go through the posting history to figure out what you know about the business. :?

Read the CARS for 703/4 as reuired and relax.

Not really an interview - more of a meeting where TC points out things to watch for and answers any questions you might have.

Nothing to worry about.

First off, there shouldn't be a "cheif pilot exam" or for that matter a "Direct of flight ops exam"......it's just a way for TC to manipulate the industry from their "Ivory Tower". If a company wants to employ a person in either of these positions they should be allowed to employ that person....way too often we have TC disapproving a candidate for TC's personal agenda.....keep in mind, that most companies that have run afoul of TC, have done so with CP's and DFO's that TC themselves have approved of? Just one more way TC runs the show!

Questions on the ops spec. of the company you work for: ops manual
Questions on your responsabilities: Standard 723...something...
No big deal...

How did you do on your call screening and your options to verbalize the same line over and over again - "Sorry, but we're not hiring right now. We'll keep your ......." while simultaneously shredding the guys resume?

Hey the Search Function works Folks.

just wanted to revive this thread does anyone have a study guide or more info on becoming a CP, like an Aerocourse ATPL book. Do you need a company to nominate you for the exam or can one just write it and add it to your resume for future employment?

As well what would a respectable Salary be for a CP in a commuter/Air taxi operation. I'm thinking at least 80K + is that too low?

Sorry, can't recall if I had a letter to take to write the exam. Given that I had to be nominated by my employer for the postion and TC was made aware, I think there is just a note in your file. There is no "Chief Pilot for Dummies" manual to speak of. Pick up a copy of the study reference guide and start studying away at the CARS for your applicable classification. When it comes down to the interview... make sure you know about your Company Operations Manual etc. The interview is probably the easisest part.

Wow I was surprised to see this come up after 3 years yeah the search function is handy. I thought I would respond since I asked originally and went on to do the interview and did pass. The written was a piece of cake, from what I remember you had to be nominated by your company as oposed tojust writing it on your own, Transport insisted on you doing the interview first so if you were no good there would be no point on doing the exam. I did the exam first and was later tuned in by my transport rep for doing things ass backwards. But how was I to know. Then came the oral exam 2.5 hors of hell sorry but that is how it was. I did not help that we were in the middle of an audit and I could hear my ops manager telling the transport guy what he thought of him and of transport in general! After they were done yelling at each other I was aked to come in for the interview. The transport guy was so red faced I thought he was going to burst. Anyway got through the interview passed and all was well but he sure put the screws to me thanks to my boss/ops manager. I am sure my case is far from typical but thought I would post it for you guys/gals anyway!

Are you saying your ops manager was a real prick and he was being unfair to that poor TC guy?
