Just a quick question.

I landed at London the other day and wanted to head to the main terminal building for some timmies.

Ground controller said I wasn't able to "due to security reasons". Anyone know what those reasons would be?

I am assuming that you are flying general aviation which means you do not have a RAIC, or a transport Canada red pass. If not that could be why they did not want you entering the secured section of the terminal. But that is also only a guestimate on my part.

Ahh that makes sense. Thanks!

Park at the Esso FBO if you need gas (ramp fee waived) or in front of the Katana Kafe. Walk in the FBO or Kafe, Walk out the outside door then walk in the terminal building from the outside. Go to Timmies.

I was there Saturday and you needed snowshoes to go anywhere...taxiing (a Pilatus) was fun as taxiways weren't plowed (Southerners and snow - geez)...we walked to Katana Kafe.

We had very little snow in the neighbourhood at 5pm on Friday, and when I got back from Toronto around midnight, there was over a foot of it on my car.

lol...that's funny. It sounds like you're saying they are inexperienced with snow. I lived in London for many years and worked at that airport...we definitely got snow there, and lots of it. However I expect the point you were making was that the snow wasn't clear and how annoying that was. I don't miss that quantity of snow, Lethbridge might be (ok...IS) windy in the winter but we hardly get any snow...and it sure is nice to own a vehicle knowing you don't have to cake it in oil to keep the salt away from it, I don't miss rust one bit. Go Alberta!!

Definitely security related, London boasts as to having the tightest security in Canada, which appears to be true. The fueller is screened before being alloed on the ramp at the terminal, and our mtc people the same before coming from the hangar.

Anybody that "boasts" like that has clearly never been to Canada's majestic north.
