Re: Help with some ATPL q's
Tell me you do not fly as a commercial pilot? There are some basic things here that you really need to know! Basic altimetery that *could* save your life. Please go back to From the Ground Up, read cover to cover understand it. Read Air Command Weather Manual understand it. Then go take a Aerocourse or similar ATPL course, and if you STILL have the same questions please ask. These questions show a sharp gap in theoretical knowledge that needs to be filled, I am not trying to be an ass hat.
Cheers,

Struggling to be constructive here ....
If you are writing the ATPL exams, I don't think it would
be presumptuous to assume that you hold a Commercial
Pilot's Licence, a valid multi-engine instrument rating,
and at least 750 hours total time (likely more).
I might humbly suggest that you post the questions
and your best attempts at the answers, and we will
do our best here to correct your answers.

Hey man, I have to agree with some of the guys here who have given you a hard time. But I don't agree with the way they fired off shit balls at you.piloterror wrote:Hey Guys,
Studying for my A’s and I got some questions I need help with. Even if you can point me in the right direction of where to find some of this info would be appreciated.
1) When Isotachs are closer than 30NM apart, what does this mean?
2) When is your true altitude lower than your indicated? Is it in conditions of high pressure and warm air?
3) When flying in mountainous areas....your temperature drops sharply. Will your indicated be higher or true altitude higher?
4) You’re flying from 30.12” to 29.92” FL220...what would happen if you change the setting to 29.92 after leveling off @ FL220 and you have an encoding altimeter?
5) Passage of a cold front...will wind veer and increase?
6) A 180 degree turn in cloud causes what kind of sensation?
7) When de-icing an airplane what surface should be de-iced first?
AD’s issued by a foreign states...are they valid for Canadian registered a/c as well?
9) When precipitation falls on a cold soaked wing....will the precipitation melt the frost already formed?
10) How does airborne weather radar detect thunderstorms and lightning while you are in cloud?
Thanks
We don't know what your circumstances have been like, perhaps you have been away from flying for a long time and have recently gotten your recency up to par and are going to write the ATPL's. I don't know, but what I see from the questions you're asking is that there's about 100 more that entails that you have perhaps forgotten or need to review some basic material. It's okay ! You're a human being. But I wouldn't give my self the responsibility to have the potential of taking command of an advanced complex aircraft if I don't know some basic information.
If you're in the lower mainland, I highly suggest that you take TODD PEZER's MET seminar. As it looks like the majority of your struggles is in Meteorology.
Stay safe man, and remember that you're in command for hundreds of people when flying. Perhaps thousands if you were to crash somewhere.

I think E-Flyer is lonely and wants a little date!
Those questions are basic and can be solved by simply opening a book and using some initiative instead of coming on here and looking like a tool box!!

It's funny that his username is pilotERROR.
That's what will happen if he doesn't learn these things.
But at least he's taking the initiative and trying to obtain the required knowledge. My advice: Read the textbooks rather than asking complete strangers on a forum.

I don't go to such extremes as you captain, I don't get my women online.Captain_Canuck wrote:I think E-Flyer is lonely and wants a little date!

I agree with the fact that he should know this stuff by now, but what right do you have calling people names. If you don't have the answer to somebody's question, why babble on telling them they suck and are a tool box. Just direct them to the source and enjoy your splendid day. He/she wasn't asking for your opinion, but was asking for some help or direction.
FTGU would be a good start or APFM
My 2 cents.
