What would be the penalty for common assault be if you cold cocked whoever was demanding you produce the license and just leave then there and walk away.

You gotta love these idiots who run your regulator, they can fine a pilot $5000.00 for having left their pilots license at home but they close their eyes to operators who break every rule in the book. In fact they even ignore companies who kill people while breaking the rules.

What it is kids is easy pickings because they know a pilot does not have any chance of defending them selves from such over kill punishment.

It is the typical fear factor for petty issues.

Hey, I believe I have been out of the loop. Are there regulations and a set time line in place for a new license to be issued to operate aircraft, commercially in Canada. I haven't received any information from my company in this regard. To be honest, haven't even heard of a new license booklet. I heard there might be some new credit card type license coming our way but that is about it. Cheers, and thanks in advance for your comments.

I have yet to receive any notice by mail or otherwise and I try to avoid scouring the TC website for the latest regulatory tidbit. I wouldn't have know about this new license if not for this site.

I guess you don't read your AICs (Aerodrome Information Circulars.)

Check out AIC 14/08, available on the NavCanada website (same place you get your TAFs and METARs.)

These used to be mailed out with the AIP updates but with the "new" AIM, the information is distributed via the NavCan site.

I get my TAF's and METARS from my flight release and anything important for my route of flight from Dispatch. You're right, I haven't read an AIC since they stopped arriving in the mail. (Please don't take that seriously!)

I don't want to sound like a dinosaur, but I think if there is an action that I must take to get a new license, that should be communicated to me directly. They have mailed me at least 3 invoices for License fees and 2 new license printings since I first heard of the new licenses. Why couldn't they send me the information about the new license?

As for the license format, ya maybe it isn't perfect; but now that it doesn't fit squarely in your ass pocket, it won't get all sweaty and smear print... so I guess there is some light, ya?



BTW Just got it back, took all of 4 weeks from Picture to Passport in the mail. Not crazy about the colour, but so what ---- it's just a license --- I already know I'm a pilot; the paper is just for the figure heads, and what the hell - whatever they want.

Understand this: There is much dissatisfaction with the attitude and service levels of Transport Canada. However, this will not change until enough upset customers make their views known. You have a choice: stay silent and be part of the problem or demand improvements and attempt to be part of the solution!

it can be absolutly anyone in the world - whether they know you or not. they just have to see your picture id, then sign the form. you can get tc to do it if you take in the forum in person. hell you could get a bum to do it.

No they're not charging, just gotta fill out the form, the only cost is the passport photo which cost me a whopping $9.99 which is than tax deductable.
