Canadian-FAA ATPL conversion

Post by turbocharged »

Has anyone converted their Canadian ATPL - FAA ATPL??

Besides B.C any other Canadian schools out there that offer the conversions? Any US schools close to the border??

Has anyone done the FAA ATPL written test in Canada as detailed on <<http://www.lasergrade.com>>

Any information or advice on the above topics would be greatly appreciated.

I have done the ATP exam, but not in Canada. You want to pass with the least effort...buy the study book from Gleim. It has all the test questions and answers. Word for word!

If you already have a Canadian ATPL, it is simply a matter of doing the written, getting a medical (you only need a class 3 to do the ride by the way,) and doing the check ride!

I am going down this coming weekend to finally do the check ride. Wish me luck!

I'm from the Cornwall area in Ontario. There is a testing center in Saranac Lake (near Lake Placid.) Just over an hour drive. I am working in Northwestern Ontario at the moment, and am planning to head down to Minneapolis within the month to do the checkride.

Things have gotten a little bit more complicated recently for flight training in the US. You may be required to submit fingerprints and go throug a back ground check before flying there. In my situation, because I already hold an FAA Commercial multi IFR I wasn't required to jump through all the hoops.

PM me if you need more info.
