I would like to get some advice on AME contracting, who to contact, whats involved, kind of a step by step how to.
I have the winter off and would like to keep my currency. If any one that knows the ins and outs could reply.
thanks.

Re: contracting
Hey,
I am an Avionics AME from Manitoba. I've been with Contract Aero for the past few months, as well as a couple of direct contracts. Don't bother with Avious, or Ardious, or what ever they call themselves now. They were ACTS and the morale in that place!!??!! I left there after 10 years for a reason.
Contract Aero has been alright for me, though remember they are there for one thing, the almighty dollar. Not too much success with Saxon, they promise but never delievered. I heard Calm Air is getting brought out, I can't say too much other then that, as I don't know if it's official yet.
Do you want to stay in Manitoba, or are you willing to rotate in and out of places, (that's what I am doing)? PM me if you have any questions, I've been contracting for 7 months now.

Limey,
Is there much happening with CAS at this moment? I heard all of FAs CAS were cancelled...?
I ended up doing fulltime again, as it offers stabilty.

Re: contracting
No kidding, all of the FA contracts?
I know a bunch in YZF that went full time from CAS, but I did'nt know about all of the bases.
I guess FA wants to keep the guys who at least know about atr cold oil levels

Re: contracting
Just for info I just pulled the pin from Air Canada/Aveous after ten years. Way to unstable and tired of being a broke ass. No pay raise in six years????? I got a business that runs May 01 to Nov 30. So basically I got the winter off so I'm just kicking around ideas as to what I can do to keep busy and make some extra money.

Re: contracting
I had heard through an associate that Exceltech was looking for engineers for Bombardier in Mirabell, they are SUPPOSEDLY paying $61\hr and they're working upto 70-80\wk & they're making $20,000\mth???????
Can anybody confirm or deny this?? Sounds too good to be true, then again I worked @ dehavilland for 6 months on the Global line, what a flipping nuthouse.

Re: contracting
As for FA, they did cancel all the contracts as the guys went full time. The only exception is me, I am still contracting at FA as an Avionics. I have to babysit a new apprentice they hired, who isn't working out too well for them.
For ExcelTech, they are hiring, I was offered many years ago $80/hr with a manatory 2 hrs a day OT. I didn't know about the OT and it was a 6 month contract. I am now kicking myself for not taking it and staying at Air Canada, only to quit in the spring this year for the same reasons as Jakabek. Live and learn.

Man if that was true do you think that they would be posting jobs all the time? And if anyone turned down 80.00hr I'm gonna kick you too. If thats true, I'm montreal bound. I had a friend think about getting a job with them and they only offered him around 24-25.00 that was for a permi position though.

Re: contracting
That was about 3 years ago I was offered the job, and I wasn't thinking about contracting at the time. I brought into Air Canada's everything is okay s**t, and was worried about losing my passes. I fly to Europe all the time (Being an European myself). They are only offering permi positions right now. If they offer that high wage again, then J'apprend francais real quick.bombardierfixer wrote:Man if that was true do you think that they would be posting jobs all the time?
