No surprise here,
My laptop that I mistakingly put in my checked baggage last month on an Emirates flight mysteriously grew legs in YYZ and vacated !
Still trying unsuccessfully to get someone from Emirates to get back to me. My guess is I'm SOL

It's probably for sale at the Pearson flea market. Friend of mine who worked the ramp there said he could anything from memory sticks to lap tops that had been stolen or even left behind in the plane. Apparently people forget shit all the time.Blown Juggs wrote:No surprise here,

Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.

Well if anyone comes across a Dell with a bunch of decals ( Snowbirds, DeHaviland etc.) from the Pearson flea market please advise me. I might even offer a reward, there was some info on that computer that I would like to have back.
Cheers,

Mounties, Transport Canada team up to boost airport security
11 Apr, 1:54 PM
OTTAWA - The Mounties and Transport Canada are teaming up to crack down on organized crime and other threats at Canadian airports after stinging criticism from Canada's auditor-general.
Transport Canada and the RCMP announced today they have signed an information-sharing agreement to conduct expanded criminal background checks for workers who have access to secure areas at Canada's airports.
The move comes after Auditor-General Sheila Fraser said in a report last month that suspicious characters, some with links to organized crime, are working in secure areas at airports because of poor co-operation between Transport Canada and the Mounties.
The RCMP had terminated an information-sharing deal with Transport Canada back in December 2007.
Under the new deal signed Wednesday, Transport Canada will be able to base decisions on security clearance for workers on more complete data from a broader range of intelligence sources.
The announcement also comes after Transport Minister John Baird and Senator Colin Kenny tested security at the country's largest airport - Toronto's Pearson International Airport - last month and Baird was able to walk unchallenged onto the tarmac.

Interesting, maybe the mounties were leery they might be seen as consorting with people with questionable ethics? The RCMP had terminated an information-sharing deal with Transport Canada back in December 2007.
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Re: Gangs infiltrating Canadian airports
When I worked at YEG 4 years ago, because I had traveled throughout the western hemisphere and lived in various places within Canada, I took 6 months to receive my "red pass". A fellow I worked with was from the area of Pakistan that borders with Afghanistan. He took a week and a half. I asked him how it could take such a short time. He explained that because he grew up in a lawless area of Pakistan there are no birth records or employment records, as well identities are "plastic". Therefore there was no background as such for CSIS to check into. If TC denies their security request then its a human rights issue and the government is racist in its screening. Seems smart eh?

Actually now that I think of it I recently saw a video of a gang attacking and killing a passenger at YVR. Four members of the gang walked up to the passenger used a weapon on him them drove their knee into his neck killing him. They even were wearing their "colours" brazenly in full view. RCMP. Very scary group of criminals, even heard they're going to get away with it even though there's video evidence.
Re: Gangs infiltrating Canadian airports
I'm glad this was brought to public attention.
It seems that these (I'm sorry) asses at the airport showing facial expressions and body languages of "authority" are the security risks the nation should be worried about as opposed to some pilot's shaving cream... or a pilot getting grief cause he used his red pass when he wasn't in uniform... or blah blah blah... you know the stories better than me.
I've always believed in that there's a thin line between between having authority and being a complete idiot.
Cause you know that east-indian janitor with a security clearance is definitely not a security risk in comparison to the iraqi passengers going to disney land...
