Directly from the official site:
At KFC, we feed the world. But we do more than fill people up. We fulfill their lives. Our meals matter; and when we serve them with a smile, we make our customers day. So our jobs are more than a paycheck – they’re about independence, fun and friends. KFC is where life tastes better.

Lots of companies say it. But we really mean it.
At KFC, we're all about making hungry people happy. And we do it with a smile, teamwork and lots of laughs. Life simply tastes better here.No matter who you are, or where you're at in life, KFC has something for you. If your goal is extra money, we’ve got that. If you’re looking to launch your career, even better. Hear from our people. You might just find what you’re looking for. http://careers.kfc.ca/

HA!

Seriously though, I don't think they hire often. I do recall seeing something on the forum this past spring about accepting resumes, and then another when they got all that they needed with a thank you. Don't think they hire often, as I've heard they treat their employee's very well. Besides, 40% of the time I'm right 100% of the time. - Ron Burgundy

MMMMMM dirty bird! havent had one of those since my last hang over ;-)

I noticed that they are always looking for AME's, and thought there might be a chance to move into a flying position within the company. Long shot i know, but worth asking about.

Does anyone know any other operators in the Kelowna area?

Do you have an instructor rating? Southern Interior Flight Centre (Carson Air) is fair sized flight school you could pursue... Toll free phone number 1-800-765-7779 extension 1 for the flight school. Marc Vanderaegan is the CFI. As well, Carson Air holds the BC medevac contract out of Kelowna and operates a KingAir 350 from that base.

All the best!

Kelowna usually hires in the spring. This past year they ran 2 ground schools as we were very short on pilots and there were upgrades to the DC 10's. They hired 21, but only 18 took the position. One of those washed out in the sim and another quite during lineindoc. Requirements can be fairly low. We have some new F/O's with as little as 700-800 hrs total. You must have a multi-ifr. Instructing time is also valuable. Unfortunately for those who would like to apply, Cargojet is laying off a lot of pilots. Those guys would be picked up first since they already have a ppc for the 727. I know a few have already applied.
Send in a resume anyway. It's a great company, pay is good, but you have to be able to tolerate the night work. Upgrades will probably slow down with the downturn though.

Do you have to start out as a s/o on the 727? I am interested in the convair in YQT, but have heard rumours that they do not hire direct entry f/o's for that position? Can anyone clarify this for me?

Thanks

You do start off as an S/O on the 27 and have to wait for a position on the Convair. Even then the position is filled by seniority.
If nobody bids it, then it can go to the lowest person. Some have gotten on the Convair within a few months. These positions though are far and few between.

It's typical that people get hired on to the 727 S/O position, but if no one bids for an open CV slot then - so long as you meet the time/experience reqs. - there's no reason not to have a crack at the CV position.
