Is it me, or was it the americans who elected a president who has muslim ties. Why whould it matter anyway? are they really that dumb to think that a terrorist would discuss the safest place to sit on an airplane? it must of been a yankee who pulled the trigger just kidding.
It's not just Americans that can be ignorant yahoos. Check out the CBC story on this and all the comments that were posted by fellow Canadians. It's depressing. Some of them would do very well on Jay Leno's "Jay Walking".
I don't really care for the situation, but how would you react if you were sitting beside this family and their all discussing the safest place to sit if a bomb were to go off? I don't care the color of their skin or who they pray too,you bring on that kind of attention your gonna get negative results. Innocent or not its just not what you say on an airplane. I wouldn't walk into a bank and yell "NOBODY MOVE!!!!!.....I dropped my contact..."
Freddy, I don't think they mentioned bombs. If they did, I'd agree with your statement. They were just talking about where the safest place would be to sit on a plane should something go wrong such as an accident...
I agree how that kind of talk could be nerve wrecking but maybe respond to them with a sarcastic comment by saying "well that's the kind of talk we want to hear on a plane" and move on - not to get the whole FBI crapola involved lol
It's sort of like that joke about osama sending bush a letter saying 370H-SSV-0773H and it got sent around to the FBI and CIA and became a national security risk while all the president forgot to do was to look at it upside down.
Whats the point of even writing up an article on an event like this? so journalists have something to write about other than the usual crap about global warming, bombings in iraq, and how judge judy turned out to be a lesbian ? Does an incident like the above really require media attention? What are they trying to say? that America is still full of hate red and muslims suck?
How about some news casts on the hottest flight attendants... Virgin Atlantic thank you very much.

On a regular basis, I get asked by passengers where the safest place to sit.
I was on an Etihad flight from Jakarta to Toronto... excellent airline by the way. Anyway, when I was from Abu Dhabi to Toronto, there were two guys behind me... Muslim... the whole airplane was.... and they could not stop talking about bombs, terrorists, explosions, 9/11, etc., etc. It was quite uncomfortable and unsettling. I could have done without listening to that shit.

You also need to look at this from the other perspective. What would everyone be saying if the airline/TSA/FBI didn't respond to the report and something happened on the flight? They get a report, they have to follow-up. At the outset they have no ability to know the real intent of what was said. You also can't tell from this article how the detained people reacted to the whole affair. If it were me, knowing I was completely innocent, I probably wouldn't be too damned happy about it. These people may well have been angry and upset enough that the airline didn't want them on one of their airplanes regardless of having been cleared of being terrorists. You can't tell from an article that compresses several hours of an intense incident into a few paragraphs.
No one said bomb.. but even on this thread it is implied...No one said anything about security (according to all articles) they were talking about safety.
Its profiling and nobody wants to say it.
As for what to do about it.....i dunno. Us Westerners want to feel "safe" thats why we take off our shoes and belts. I find it funny that people go skiing , backcountry snowmobiling, dive with sharks, but some family is discussing their worries about where to sit to be safest and they kick them off the plane.

why don't we just say it and then get onto discussing whether its right/wrong, whether it works, or whether it is a temporary bandaid for our fears that stop us from coming up with actual solutions?

It does show how soft the yanks are ,all of them still had their teeth and fingers .Not one broken arm or smashed skull among the well educated family that should know better than to make such outragious comments on a flight in a country, in a region that has benn attacked and threatened by persons matching their description.
The fact that one of them is a LAWYER who will be suing is just a coincidence.
They should be deported back to their ancestoral homelands to live in peace .

An educated person should be able to conduct themselves in public without causing fear and alarm amongst their fellow citizens and travellers.The fact that the race card has been played so fast would make me think this is another ambulance chaser after some money .The feigned harm about how badly they feel is just more racist apologist politically correct crap.
You might be suprised to know that the worst racist's i have met in my life were neither white nor where they English.
Even Ghandi had his racist views that supported Nazi Germany secretly in WW2 but he was Indian and not very high up on the racist caste system still used in India today so that is overlooked by the hollywood crowd.
Emotions may run high with perceived profilling .But think about it they were allowed to get on the plane it was their own words actions that got them removed from the flight.
Their own words and actions got them removed from the airplane .Each day thousands of people matching the description of the 9-11 hijackers fly freely without any problems ,so when mouthpieces like this cause trouble it is usually the innocent
who pay the price.

Hmmm, I can't find the link now on yahoo.ca but the video showed that they were speaking about the safest place to sit in the event a bomb went off. I have to admit I didnt read your link E-Flyer simply because I had read the story earlier on in the day. The original dwarf tossing was a show where people paid a lot of money to throw willing vertically challenged professional wrestlers dressed in velcro at a large target. The little men were very entertaining.It was the PC brigades that got the show stopped denying the wrestlers a very good living .Fortunately for the little guys Snow white and the seven dwarfs came along and they all got good paying jobs playing the seven dwarfs on stage .I would pay money to see someone try to toss one of those vertically challenged professional wrestlers if he did not want to be thrown as they were taught classical wrestling judo and dance .They were tough guys with hearts of gold .So i do not mock them or say anything bad as they made some good coin from their show.
As for kicking muslims that too is tounge in cheek as one of the top Karate guys in Canada is from a Muslim Country and trained with the Prince of Jordon who also trained with Mas Oyama in one of the hardest styles of the empty hand.
So anyone trying to throw an unwilling professional actor may get more than they bargained forand kicking an innocent man may get you hurt worse than throwing a willing showman
There's a bar in the Phillipines in Clark where you can go in and toss midgets around... there's no competition or anything like that. You just get pissed and toss midgets around.
