Re: Low time pilot jobs
Anyone have any leads to any new and good leads to finding work as a low time pilots?
I'm definitly not an advocate of paying for a rating, but even with this climate there must be something out there.
Come on Comrades, let's put our brains together to figure out a solution.

Read the rest of this thread.... and do a search. You wanna ramp, fly floats, instruct???? Figure that out first, then maybe you can pointed in the right direction.

Thunder Air boys... one of, if not the best company in to work for in the Thunder Bay area. Anyone out there who's looking for a starter job, I would hop on this fast.

But wait...there's some fine print! I believe the job advertised was for Timmins, not Thunder Bay. And apparently need 500 hours to work the ramp (with a valid IFR). And a "training agreement" for right seat Caravan PCC...

Well, I would say the 500 TT is not carved in stone and the valid IFR is a no brainer... of course you need one. I'm quite sure the "training agreement" would not entail handing over cash. It's probably just a "you must stay for this long"... but then, why would you want to leave as a low-timer. You'll go Van captain, then right seat Mu-2/King Air, then left seat. Anyway, what I'm saying is Thunder Air pays really well and I've only heard they're a fantastic place to work.Red Line wrote:But wait...there's some fine print! And if what you want to do is work the ramp, I'd take this over Wasaya in YRL/YPL or the frozen north in YZF. I think it's great place for a low timer to get into.

Training agreement is no money up front according to the add.

Not to be harsh... but... if all you do, is email resumes out, and not even a follow-up phone call on your part, how can the employer think you actually want the job?
I mean, if I was an employer, I'd take the 600 hr guys that called me back / did his homework on what/where I fly to, and is a friendly, personable type of person, rather than the 750 hr guy who does nothing, is that bitter asshole that you always dread going into work because you know he's going to make your shift miserable.
