I traveled with you folks to visit family over the holidays. Just wanted to let you know that I struggled to hear the destination updates (en route) from the Flight Deck. I was mid cabin (row 15) for both outgoing and returning legs. Only the destination temperature was able to be picked out of the muffled update whereas flight attendant broadcasts came through loud and clear. Maybe other "guests" are like me and enjoy hearing from the Flight Deck.
Always a pleasure flying with you!

Re: Destination Updates En Route
as a commuter I've found it's either too frikkin loud or too frickin quiet, and rarely the volume that's comfortable. I've tried holding the mike different ways, I've tried the handheld vs the boom mike on my headset, but there's no consistency. It's a dice roll, really. Hope that helps, or just frustrates you more!

Re: Destination Updates En Route
It can be corrected/isolated somewhat easily as there is not much to this system. The PA gain (volume) can be adjusted on the PA amplifier which may correct the problem, it could be a faulty PSU speaker, or a faulty remote electronics unit which senses an input from the engine running relay(s) to increase volume to the passenger address system (speakers) due to the increase in noise from the engines, that's why you can hear the FA announcements jump to a higher volume during engine start.
There could be a few other reasons why such as wiring, faulty hand-mic at FA stations, faulty audio control panel, yada yada, yada, you get the idea.
