For pilots? On a side note, they have stopped giving out LOA's and reduced flying blocks I have been told.

Don't get too excited. I'm pretty sure this is simply to get a 'pool' going again, and ensure they have up-to-date info for everybody. They may also be preparing for possible new contracts (again, don't get too excited) that would likely require some significant hiring activity.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Actually, I guess the 40ish vacancies will require hiring some folks. If you're sick of the James Bay coast, or had enough landings by flare-pots... get your CV's in :-)
If you're holding out for AC... don't. (Unless you really like the coast and landings by flare pots ;-)
If you must hold out for something, hold out for WJA (one of my regrets in aviation).

Right now, I don't think you should "hold out" for anybody. I can think of worse seats to be sitting in than one at Jazz right now. That would be ANY seat, anywhere even close to James Bay!

Not unless you fly something under 12,566 LBS in a CARS705 enviroment and want to work for WJ. If thats the case apply to Jazz ASAP.

That being said, IMHO the safest place to be (other then WJ) in this market is and will remain up north.

Why is that? I'd say to each their own.

Last flight I took with Jazz the crew showed up at the gate around 90 minutes past departure time looking more tired and generally miserable then I'd like to see people responsible for my life looking. I'm sure their delay wasn't due to anything they did or had control over but they still received the slow clap from many of the passengers waiting there. You know the slow clap? It's the one that really means "hey, @#$! you". The look on the crew's faces isn't something I'll forget any time soon.

Money is nice too. You can buy things with it.

I always thought the "slow clap" was when it took a week before it hurt to pee.

I tend to agree with some of the other posts, this hiring advertisement may just be for pooling as a preemptive strike before negotiations. But who knows!

The new bid out yesterday shows 44 vacancies, while some of those might be filled by crew that are returning from LOA's I doubt that they all will be. So I would say that the hiring will begin again.

If the company was posturing for contract negotiations it would be showing more lay offs than hiring. IMO

Best response I've seen on here in a long time. Well done Doc, well done.

Most vacancies are YYZ and YUL RJ, followed by YYC RJ by the quick look I took of the bid.

Hopefully this means I can go back to holding a sweet line of nothing but low credit LGA, BOS, DCA, ATL, MSP, EWR, RDU and PHLs turns. I miss my old schedule! (seriously, that's how I bid).

It's been a while since I've used flare pots. I've also used two pick up trucks, two skidoos, and even one skidoo. Done more than a few with just the moon light as well. Also landed two miles from the strip because the skidoo "lighting my way" had broken down and the twit left the head light on! Pretty entertaining....deep snow, no damage, unloaded and bugged out. Of course it was a Twin Otter! Wouldn't pull that shit in anything else! Looked really silly though!
