Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
Greetings all,
Which cities has Jazz done their interviews in? If one was selected how much time do they get before their interview. Clearly I haven't been called yet, and was hoping it's just my location not just me.
Thanks,
Mike

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
Hey Cubester interviews will most likely be conducted in Calgary, Toronto, and Montreal. We also have bases in Halifax and Vancouver but not sure if they interview at those places. It shouldn't matter where you are located they have hired people from every location in the country. Be patient and good things will happen, good luck!
following our will and wind we may just go where no one's been.
Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
Odysseys and others.
Just a FYI, when you start you will pay for 1/2 the initial uniform through pay roll deduction each cheque. They take out $12.83 per cheque until your share is paid off.
When I started my share was $700 and something, as the lady at VF said, it takes ALONG time to pay it off.
If you quit within the first 2 years you are accountable for the full cost of the uniform which is close to 1500.
Now every January our account at VF is topped up with 300 dollars to spend on any additional uniform pieces as well. The unfortunate part is you cannot us this to pay off your share when you start.
Cheers

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
For the onterviews, I think they could be done at any of the bases (YHZ, YUL, YYZ, YYC, YVR). I have met people who has done them in all bases in the past.Cubester wrote:Greetings all,

Sim will be done in either YYZ, or YVR. Those are the only places where the sim are based.
Medicals can be done anywhere where there is an AC doctor available. I known people who have done them in YWG, and there is no base there (for Jazz).
The only issue (this may have changed I don't know) . You are on your own as far as getting to the interview. Sim and medical, they will fly you out.
Hope this helps

I have herd of ppl doing medical in YWG
as far as interviews go they do help you with travel as much as they do for the sim and medical. Overall, very helpful when it comes to this. Good luck to everyone!

Pre-Hire Medicals may not be required anymore due to a Human Rights ruling. Heard this from the company medical doctor yesterday.

Anybody having problems updating the questionnaire?
When I try to update it sends out an error :

Alot of the questions I answered are not the same when I first answered...it's like if it was someone elses.

For those referring to the sim and medical. I did my initial interview in YYZ, sim in YVR, and medical in YWG.

I'm going to throw this one out there. My guess is that any new hires will probably be laid off by the fall. Maybe not, but all this business is a little like going to a casino.

Well, I wish they would call me regardless of what will happen in the future. Worst case scenario, you get laid off with a Dash or RJ PPC.vortac wrote:I'm going to throw this one out there. Come on Jazz, call me up... I'm ready.

I think that if you stick to the dotted lines when making the folds your might have some aviation success.
Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
Has anybody been called for an interview at YYZ?? Seems like all the comments about interviews are for every base but YYZ.
Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
Excellent question, Did anyone from the Toronto area get called for an interview in YUL or YVR? Does Jazz bring you to the closest location from your home address for the interview and there just hasn't been a YYZ time yet?

That's too bad. Not measuring up to the Air Canada Medical Standards saved me from joining Jazz and missing out on the opportunity of a lifetime!.like2fly wrote:Pre-Hire Medicals may not be required anymore due to a Human Rights ruling. Heard this from the company medical doctor yesterday.

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
The first day we met with the ALPA union guys they asked if we knew anyone that had been turned down because of medical reasons only. Apparently this isn't legal (I think) If you qualify for a Cat 1 than you are eligible to be hired. That's too bad. Not measuring up to the Air Canada Medical Standards saved me from joining Jazz and missing out on the opportunity of a lifetime!.
If you still have proof of all of this maybe you should contact ALPA and see what they can do for you, it wouldn't hurt.

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
My medical was absolutely miserable and I still got hired. I passed out after my blood test (I literally woke up lying on the floor surrounded by the doctor and 3 other nurses), it took me 1.5hrs to give them my urine sample, and to top it off, I ended up failing the blood test due to abnormal WBC and had to redo it.Stinky wrote:The first day we met with the ALPA union guys they asked if we knew anyone that had been turned down because of medical reasons only. So if they have gotten rid of the medical, consider yourself lucky! Although I highly doubt they would scrap it, as they could find something wrong with you.

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
I too was given the runaround during the medical process. My reasoning was that I can fully hold a Cat 1 with TC, but Im not good enough for your standards? It all worked out but some guys were telling me I had a legal case against them if I was turned down. Imagine if all companies stopped hiring hiring people with disabilities!

And no, Im not disabled! Just a little special!

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
Get a grip Inverted2. Employers are allowed to assess someone before they hire them. Just because you have a pilots license doesn't mean they HAVE to hire you. What if your a Jerk? Would it be discrimination if they didn't want you? Try doing the medical at AC. If you had trouble with the Jazz medical, AC will really cause you to become "disabled".Inverted2 wrote:I too was given the runaround during the medical process. Good luck. see you at the interview, or training. Maybe.
Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
So from what I can see, Interviews conducted in YVR and YUL, YYZ still no mention about.
How long before the initial screening and 1st calls to selected candidate process done with?
If they hire about 40 guys I figure that this process won't be going on for more than a month.
Anybody who has some info it would be greatly appreciated.

Re: hiring at Jazz!!!
I think you misunderstood my post. If you already had the interview and sim done, it pretty much means you are hired pending the medical. If I was a jerk as you are suggesting, I likely wouldn't have made it to the sim, and if I couldnt fly, I likely wouldnt have made it past the sim and to the medical.GTFA wrote:Get a grip Inverted2. As previously stated, it's the same medical perfored by the same Docs.Get a grip Inverted2. Employers are allowed to assess someone before they hire them. As for your statement of employers rights to assess your medical fitness prior to employment I have to disagree. Where will this stop, with advances in medical science and gentic screening would you feel it's OK for an employer or an insurance company to not hire or insure you because you had a high likelyhood of developing a disease in the distant future.
I'd imagine your attitude would change pretty quickly if you had a genetic marker that meant you were predispositioned to develop a certain type of cancer and because of this you couldn't find decent employment in any field because you would become an expensive burden later in life.
As the poor working schmucks we need to stand together and stop large corporations from pushing these cost cutting measures, not insult a guy because he couldn't get through a medical that you could.
