That is what pilots are trained for - handling emergencies. Any trained monkey can operate an aircraft NORMALLY. The money and respect is earned when things are abnormal. You cant get any better PR for pilots than the miracle in the Hudson.
That would be Captain Al Haynes. He was a truly humble man also who made it perfectly clear that they only made it because of the team effort... even bringing a DH training Captain up front to assist... That's an amazing story, and if you ever get the chance to see video of Capt. Haynes public speaking engagements on the accident, it'll send a chill up your spine...

Apparently he did say Mayday Mayday Mayday, as he states in the interview.

FAA transcript is here:

No mayday to be seen that I can find.

I know it doesn't change the fact of what he really said, but he claims to call Mayday.

Just pointing out the idea that it is in his mind seeing it was a topic of discussion on the other related thread.

This is great being able to see every ones view of what happened and be able to understand how the passengers reacted to the landing and getting into the brace position. Seams the FA in the rear of the plane had the most traumatic experience of it. I cant help but wonder how traumatic it would of been tho for the other FAs had they been switched places.. The lady who can't put her uniform back on yet sure has a different way of dealing with things.

Every time I hear of a plane crash it just crushes me. I'm so glad to see this one come out well. I know a few people are tired of this and wondering when it will fade away but it really means a lot to us as pilots. I can only hope for more stories like this to happen in the future crashes.

Remind me never to fly with you, if you think that was a landing :? It was a good job, but it was not a landing.
