Meatservo,
Been there and done that. Lets put the shoe on the other foot. How many step off 5T right onto 4K or the equivilant in YEV? Interline agreements are an important part of the north, seeing as a 37 doesn't really fit into Aklavik. How many times has Aklak or 4K said "nah, planes broken today" or "no fuel in YGT" or "nope, not enough people to make it worth our time". More than you think i bet. It's the arctic, and as a you know, not a very forgiving place. So if the jet breaks down, it breaks down, it's not a mickey mouse king air or cessna operator that just says "screw it, we'll go anyway" or "we'll right that leaky hydraulic system in the book on the way home" MFA knows what he signed up for, and i understand, it can be pretty trying some days up there, when all you want to do is go home.

Sure, I understand all that.. I was reacting to the posters who seem to think that because the man didn't pay for the ticket straight from his wallet, he wasn't entitled to be upset about the service. Or the posters who seem to think they have some wisdom to impart to long-time Twin Otter skippers in the north on the subject of being patient and how difficult it is to operate there. I'm not saying the 737 should fly with defects or break air regs and I'm not saying the crews are pussies or have a different work ethic than the Twin Otter guys, I'm just saying the man has a right to vent when he's done his rotation and he wants to go home. I mean, look at all the other puerile complaining that goes on here every day about training bonds or having to spend time on the ramp, etc. I think the MFA and his pals understand the factors that make it more difficult to maintain a reliable schedule compared to southern standards. But hey, you're a pilot, you're stuck up north, you're upset, you're bored, hey, go complain on AvCanada!
I would.

Are we headed into who's weenie is bigger? The pilot who flies the Boeing or the pilot who flies the skis/float/wheels? Grizzled veterans? Pleeze.

If the size of a pilots weenie determines what they fly what about female pilots? Are we headed into who's weenie is bigger? The pilot who flies the Boeing or the pilot who flies the skis/float/wheels? Grizzled veterans? Pleeze.
The hardest thing about flying is knowing when to say no
After over a half a century of flying no one ever died because of my decision not to fly.

Naw it just makes me sick thinking what the industry has really sunk to when a bunch of twin otter & king air drivers think they are some kinda grizzled hero bush pilots, not since the 70's I say is about when that era ended early 70's, oh listen to the heros crying cause they have to wait an extra couple of hours before they can get to japer ave. where they really spawned from jasper avenue bush pilots...... arghhhhh, heros right.

I'm sure that 5T's business plan does not revolve around the multitude of Beech & Otter "Grizzled Veterans" are waiting for a ride home from YEV, YRT of YFB.
Then again, I'm sure that the liquor sales must increase in those places when rotational GV's can't get out. How does that booze get there anyways? Oh, that's right, on the upper deck of a 737!
Problem solved! It is all about the cargo business!

Never mind.
"Tuk U", I think you have written the definitive "last post" for this thread. I didn't see anyone here calling himself a hero. I'm pretty sure you aren't one. I'm actually pretty sure you're one of those guys who thinks he's more important than he really is. Grow up.

Hey Meatservo......
Hold on a minute......I don't think I was " grizzled " then so maybe I am only a plain old bush pilot, does that count?
I must be a true grizzled bush pilot because not only is my spelling and grammar first class but I was flying up there in the 70's.Naw it just makes me sick thinking what the industry has really sunk to when a bunch of twin otter & king air drivers think they are some kinda grizzled hero bush pilots, not since the 70's I say is about when that era ended early 70's

hoops and hurdles probably wasn't quite the correct description. But relatively speaking, when it takes over 6 hours on 445 to get to CYEG from CYEV, plus having to please the CYZF Security Wankers, compared to 2 hours and 45 minutes direct from CYEV to CYEG on 466, it sure feels like hoops and hurdles.Tuk U wrote:Huh?? hoops & hurdles, why should you have to go thru hoops & hurdles to get on any flight, 5T sucks JC's weiny or is it the other way round? grizzled pilots gimme a break Gaaaaad!Mad Flying Ace wrote:wow - sorry i missed all the rebutal posts today - kinda got stuck going through the hoops and hurdles required to go through when going south on Flight 445.

Hey bucktooth - thought you had done some tours in CYEV. If you did, you'd know about the only time flights really get cancelled is when the weather has gone for a shyte. Aklak has enough aircraft to cover if one breaks down.Howitzer wrote:Meatservo,

I aim to please my red headed friend. I was just trying to spool you up, i miss seeing the look on your face when i do it. Having said that, i didn't get screwed coming out of YEV, more trouble with YRB and YFB. Glad to see you're healty enough to voice you're opinion though, you never know what kind of bugs are living in 38 or 40, god knows 42's a death trap.
