Looks nice, I wonder also what it cost us!
Maybe it is the new camo scheme developed by the gov? I bet since most of our enemies don't own sunglasses they are trying to blind them with the shine!!

Golden Hawks as well as the Golden Centennaires I would imagine.ktcanuck wrote:Gorgeous! Hints of Golden Hawks in there, perhaps?

Re: New Paint
Why is it that people in this country always ask "what does that cost" when it comes to anything involving national pride or symbols? I'm sure the paint costs something (unless it was donated) and in many cases these special paint jobs are done on a volunteer basis from the folks in the military if my memory serves correctly.
Very nice job, you make our country proud!

Re: New Paint
Probably less than any one of:Wonder what that cost?
1) $2 billion gun registry
2) $800 million for 4 leaky british submarines that catch on fire
3) $500 million EH-101 cancellation charge
4) $250 million for Quebec Sponsorship Embezzlement Scandal
etc, etc, etc.
As if Canadians could care less, how their tax dollars are spent
When Jean Cretin, as sitting PM, phoned up the Economic
Development Bank of Canada and ordered them to buy his
hotel in Shawinigate for an incredible price, he got re-elected
with a BIGGER majority by you people. He should have gone
to jail.
Re: New Paint
Headley,
I agree.
But forgive me for filling in the details about the subs fiasco, but Canada spent C$800 million on the submarines but spent about five years prevaricating about '...should we, shouldn't we buy them...' and then arguing in Ottawa over which politician's riding would benefit from the equipment contracts to retro fit the subs and Canadianise them. That took five years! What happens when you leave a steel tube floating in salt water for five years. It rusts!
The fire was caused by the Canadian Captains stupidity, plain and simple. Exonerated by a Canadian Board of enquiry though. However, common sense would dictate that you wouldn't sit adrift in storm force seas with two of your hatches open.
I have it on good authority that a Tutor is to be painted in Golden Centenaires colours and will be on this years airshow circuit.

I still like this one.

p.s. It's a buyer's market in the u.s. for those who hate Canada.

How about some spiffy missiles and bombs to go with that? I would be honored to be obliterated by that machine.

Re: New Paint
I don't really like the design of the new paint. Not agressive enough. It doesn't look like a fighter anymore!
I really liked that one :

Re: New Paint
New paint, same old bird.
I would scrap the Tutors and use the CF-18 for the Snowbirds airshows circuit.
Thats all there good for.

Re: New Paint
I beg to differ.
1- Hornets don't exactly operate at the same speeds as the Tutor. About 200 kts faster for the Hornet, which would require a major revamping of the Snowbird's routine.
2- The jet you see is a legacy jet. We don't have many of these flying around anymore. I suggest you look into ECP modernisation program and have an idea of what the upgraded jets can do. These are the one that are flown in the operational squadrons.
