RNAV SIDs

Post by buggy_boy »

I was reading an old powerpoint presentation (from 2002) online from NavCanada and it mentioned RNAV SIDs being tested at CYOW and also RNAV SIDs being developed for CYYZ, CYUL, and CYYC. Is this issue now dead? I can't find any new information about it.

I think I remember seeing some RNAV SIDs for YUL and YBW in the CAP charts, but not much else about it.

Grande Prairie, Springbank (I think), and Fort McMurray all have them. So far from what I have seen they work well when you do not have a terminal controller and want a simple and quick way of departing a/c instead of giving them a lot of instructions (turn to this heading for XX minutes BPOC cross X DME 7 or below). I think generally in our busier airports they prefer to just vector you.
