Any info out there on when 7F will be bringing the 67 on line?
Re: First Air 767
When you find something out, let us employees know...it's driving us nuts! LOL!

Re: First Air 767
A 767 has yet to come up in TC aircraft register for 7F...so....im thinking no time soon (if at all, but maybe someone can prove me wrong, I always like surprises, and seeing a 767 in First Air colours would be a nice change)

CargoJet would probably lease them one.

Are you with TC or do you just have a good inside source?yzfer wrote:A 767 has yet to come up in TC aircraft register for 7F...so....im thinking no time soon (if at all, but maybe someone can prove me wrong, I always like surprises, and seeing a 767 in First Air colours would be a nice change)
Re: First Air 767
Nope. just means first air has yet to be registered operator of a 767. anyone can search that.Pratt wrote:Are you with TC or do you just have a good inside source?yzfer wrote:A 767 has yet to come up in TC aircraft register for 7F...so....im thinking no time soon (if at all, but maybe someone can prove me wrong, I always like surprises, and seeing a 767 in First Air colours would be a nice change)
Re: First Air 767
Filling ⅔ of a 67 to make it pay for itself will be some challenge for them. Do they come in combi configurations?
Re: First Air 767
The rumours flying around here (excuse the pun) are that it would be a straight freighter, not a combi. Foodmail out east and other overnight cargo would be required to carry that sort of aquisition.
My guess is that a combi version would be very expensive to certify and a quick Google search doesnt show any combi versions available. I'm sure our combi ATR42s cost the company a small mint to engineer, certify, and install. Can't imagine what it would cost to put a combi version of a 767 into operation.

Crap, so this means that we have to brush up on our Heavy departure separations for the once every year that 767 comes to YZF.

Re: First Air 767
WILMINGTON, Ohio -- Air Transport Services Group, Inc. said today that its subsidiary, Cargo Aircraft Management, Inc. (CAM), has signed an agreement to lease one of its efficient, widebody freighters to Bradley Air Services Limited, which operates throughout Canada as First Air.
Under the three-year agreement, First Air will dry lease a Boeing 767-223 freighter from CAM. Under a contract with Delta TechOps, CAM will also provide engine maintenance services for the leased aircraft.
First Air is Canada’s third largest scheduled carrier, operating more than 30 aircraft, and serving more than 30 communities with passenger and cargo transportation services primarily to northern Canada.
Scott Bateman, President and CEO of First Air, said, “This aircraft is our launch aircraft into widebody freighter operations. It provides efficient capacity to service our core business and the capacity to pursue other opportunities in ad-hoc and program charter work.”
ATSG CEO and President Joe Hete said, "Our Boeing 767s continue to attract attention from leading cargo airlines and other operators seeking high quality, widebody aircraft. We are pursuing leasing arrangements with leading carriers like First Air and others throughout the world, along with our traditional ACMI and logistics support services. Our goal is to fully deploy our available airlift under long-term agreements that maximize our returns for shareholders.”

Re: First Air 767
One big plane can bring up a pile of cargo from the south to the major northern airports, where it'll get distributed by the smaller jets and turboprops... It doesn't have to get gravel certification nor operate into YCB.
It Might even get into YRT for all I know, and that would be another hub it could potentially serve. For now I think it's safe to assume it'll be flying into Yellowknife and Iqualuit.

Re: First Air 767
If I were a betting man, my money would be on it staying in the east working to YFB during the day and the overnight freight market from YOW. It is tagged as a replacement for a/the 727/s. I'm guessing with road access to YZF that there is less air freight in the west?

7F hauls a pile of freight every day YEG-YZF. You're right though, it would be a far bigger pile up to Iqualuit.

Ahh good old Wilmington Ohio. To the 7F crews that head down there to pick it up I highly recommend walking around the wall mart to sample the local culture
And if you get a day or two rent a car and drive up to Dayton to visit the Wright-Paterson Air force base home of the US Airforce Museum its free and probably the Best Airplane Museum in the world.

Re: First Air 767
Iqualuit!
funny stuff (if you know what that means in the tobbogans and triangles)!
but i'm sure you meant Iqaluit.
and as for dayton, I'm sure the guys going to p/u the plane have many memories from the time they spent running freight from way back when.
