Twin Otter Question

Post by gulfstreamengineer »

I was collecting some pictures of Twin Otters for a project I plan on doing and noticed that the Canadian Twotters on floats have the short nose (the -100 or 200 nose) and the ones operated over seas have the longer nose (-300 nose)

Is this just a coincidence or is there a Canadian Reg that won't allow the Twotter operators to use the long nose with the floats installation??

depends on what floats are installed - the CAP floats were only certified with the short noses, whilst the Whipline floats were certified on both long and short.

great airplane - quite a change from going 250 miles an hour to 160 - had a little trouble slowing it down cuz i got scared. Just finished a ferry trip to Male - very sobering, but interesting!

Looks like back to the King Airs though for a bit whilst waiting for a spot to open up on the twotter side - which might be a bit.

Ya I made the same transition.

6 minutes from TIBEG to threshold... Some one made the comment that 6 minutes gave you lots of time to get straight on the approach...I countered that it gave you 6 minutes to screw up the approach!

Glad to hear youre enjoying it....I miss it every day....sigh.....

"Whilst" is a great word, and highly underrated. Let's use it more often whilst posting on Avcanada.
