Didn't most of their pilots find jobs with Transat or Sunwing?

Re: Zoom Airlines may fly again
Hi guys/gals, can anybody advise if Zoom is going to off the ground or do we have a dreamer on our hands. I see there is a new website up for CV submissions

Re: Zoom Airlines may fly again
What is the website address, GOOGLE can't find anything?
Re: Zoom Airlines may fly again
And here is the problem in the Charter industry. 1 - The tour operators, and 2 - the supply of people who are willing to lose money in aviation.
"We have some support from tour operators". Travel agencies and tour operators will ALWAYS tell airlines that they will offer them support and FILL their planes. They love to see EXCESS CAPACITY in the market which forces fantastic seat sales. So the airline goes and tells some poor sucker investor that they have all these wonderful oportunities and poor sucker invests. Problem is when said tour operator only sell 100 seats on your 250 seat plane, what happens? You go Zooming out of business, and Mr Investor and Mrs Traveler are screwed when it all falls apart.
This scam is an old one, how many more times will it play out before investors wake up? This D-bag is not even using his own money!
If there was a great oportunity out there to put a few more widebodies in the air, don't you think that Air Transat or SkyService would be all over it?

Interesting clip. I think they have a shot at making it. They will never get better rates on leasing airplanes than right now, and if they hedge fuel with the current oil price they are in good shape. I wish them the best of luck.

I wish the families of the former and future Zoomers good luck. I wish the passengers who got stuck or may get stuck again good luck.
Like I said, this scam has been repeated many times in aviation. You never see the guys like this or LeBlanc losing their shirts, just the people and employees around them.

The biggest surprise so far to me is the fact that they are using the same name. He did say in the clip they might change it later, but still surprising!

Guy was a moron, and an insensitive asshole, but he sure knew how to look out for #1.
Re: Zoom Airlines may fly again
Good time to start an airline. The passenger market is shrinking.

Re: Zoom Airlines may fly again
Looks like the site is http://www.flyxpo.com .......There's not much there just an e-mail to send a resume to.
Having been involved with Zoom before and having secured a new job, I'm not sure if I would jump in right away. Like always in aviation "Wait and see" until then, pay for your house, pay for your groceries, pay your taxes, you know, the important things.

FlyXPO? Something like FlyREPO would be more appropriate.

Re: Zoom Airlines may fly again
I would agree with you that the bottom of the market is a good time to start an airline. No question.wordstwice wrote:Just to add a positive slant......
I think this may be a good time for a new airline to start. The business plan would have to consider the current financial situation and low passenger loads into their finances. If done correctly, could lead to a lean airline and profitable one once things improved globally. Besides, I know some of the people involved......great bunch of folks!!!!!
Also, there are alot of airlines unable to make ends meet and its not entirely due to lows passenger loads but with higher non-operational expenses.
Just a positive thought, maybe not very realistic
Access to capital is an issue right now and insurance has gone up with the hull losses of late. Plus, existing operators will do everything possible to make life pleasant for you. You'd want to have deep pockets to ride out the unpleasantness and hope to hell you can out ride the other guy. Finding investors to bankroll it in times of dwindling markets is another issue.
Should have gone into hair dressing.
