Ok, so what is up with the rumours about Seneca buying PenAir or moving in on CYHM? Any truth to that? I also heard a multitude of others are interested too - any news?

I really doubt Seneca would want anything to do with CYHM....

Unless they transfered the program to Mohawk or something.

So are the Cherokees still sitting at Brantford? I haven't been in there in a while...

I think this one might have got started because of Buttonville being under threat of closure again.

It's hard to believe... and sad to see.

So now what? The sign changes to Cargo Jet soon, and we just move on?? Let it only exist in our minds, and perhaps online???

For sure there is a large enough renters base that would be interested in renting a Cherokee or Warrior in the Hamilton area. Message me, and if there is enough interest, maybe I can get something going, perhaps buy a Penair Plane, and keep it flying!

I doubt that Cargojet will buy the property anytime soon, but who knows.

You've got a good idea, maybe try and arrange a flying club? Might be looking at more trouble than it's worth to buy one of the Penair planes, now that they've been sitting out in the elements for so long  what I wouldn't give to take QEQ (first solo plane) up for a while. Even if not based at YHM since I'm sure real estate is rather expensive, but maybe you can get some space at York CPP6 or somewhere else near by that might be a little cheaper. Wish I could say count me in, unfortunately being a College student doens't pay very well!

Hi Greg,

Yeah, it looks like setting up a rental plane required commercial insurance, and an operators certificate. Neither of those are exactly cheap. I am looking into the club route, as I do have access to an airport. And it's not York! :D

QEQ was a good plane, and my first flight was in QFP. Although I have not flown it since it was cut in half. Poor plane... I have a bunch of pictures I took of them sitting on the ramp at Brantford... it's just too sad to post them.

Well keep me in the loop if you manage to set up some form of flying club. I'll donate time as an AME apprentice, though thats not all that useful!

Are the aircraft actually for sale?

I like the idea of a flying club, but to purchase these aircraft for sentimental reasons could be hazardous to your financial well-being.

Of course; if the price is right!!

They've been sitting outside at Brantford for quite a while - not so sure if the price is right.

The price is interesting... I did some major research on them, including some detailed photo's of the planes parked at Brantford... and I do not think they are worth much at all. But what do I know?? I'm only have 2 years apprentice experience...

The engines are hardly worth core value at this point... the reason they were able to keep the engines going for 3000 hours between major's is due to the fact that they were flying everday, all day. Now that they have sat... the next 50 hours would be very fun filled! A major overahual these days easily runs $30,000 at leavens, and more if the major components are not up to factory spec, which I bet they are not.

What a shame...

These are the planes that were there when I went a few weeks ago. Caution, the following pictures may induce great sadness. I posted these on Hazatude's request. You have been warned.

Actually the airframes for the most part are very sound. The interiors and instrument/avionics need work. Its true that the engines only lasted as long as they did because of constant use. But a Leavens overhaul wont cost that much.

The airplanes just need people to give them alot of TLC.
High airframe times but still alot of life left in them.

I miss them. And their personalities.

Thanks. I needed to see them. They don't look as bad as my mind's eye had them pictured.

No problem. Some of the closer shots I took for evaluation purposes look really rough... and camera's don't lie.

Does anyone know the engine and airframe time on TDS? Too bad the paint is falling off.

I don't have the TTAF or SMOH for TDS. I know that the Airframe is relatively low and the Engine is past TBO. We rebuilt it in early 2001. It is very clean inside the airframe. Unfortunately it had a very cheap paint job done. When they did the movie with it they put a sticker over the Peninsulair Logo and they pulled off the paint when they pulled off the sticker.

Right now, I think its highly doubtful that Cargojet wants the land.

But with all the ramp rumours floating around right now. Who knows.
