CSA Positions & Training

Post by cin »

Hi Everyone,

I'm a Newbie from the East Coast and was wondering if Anyone could give me a Heads-UP on what my final interview will be like next week?? I have been trying to get on with WestJet for a LONG time...more than a year! I'm just soooo happy I finally got the chance!! :D I already work for an airline so I have my red pass....I hope that helps??

I was also told that if Hired..I will leave April 8th for either Toronto or Calgary for 2 weeks. Can anyone give me some kind of break down of what day to day training is like for a CSA position?? I find it so weird that I have to train for 2 full weeks

Any advice would be great!

Thanks Everyone,

Cin :D

The course, called ICSA, runs Mon-Fri for 2 weeks in either YYZ, YYC or YEG. You'll be learning the computer systems mostly, but also topics such as Sensitivity, IROPS, Unruly Guests, etc. will be covered. There are 3 timed pass/fail simulation exams during the course plus a self-evaluation. If you're in YYC, it's taught at the Campus so it will be all classroom work, but if you're in YEG or YYZ you'll spend mornings in the classroom and afternoons/evenings scheduled in the Operation as a Gate Assist airside or Line Ambassador at check-in.

Having a Red Pass already is awesome...let them know that. Do you work as a CSA for another airline? Ramp? For the interview just be yourself, thats all we're looking for. Are you in Deer Lake or St. John's?

Good luck

I'm in YYT and work as a CSA for Air Labrador, till April 30, as we just got word Friday that the company is shutting down the Dash-8 operations so over 100 people will be laid off :(

I'm so excited for this interview!! I'm really looking forward to it! :D

Thank-you for your information!!

Tips for the interview: Be yourself! WestJet hires for personality and how well you fit into the team dynamic during the interview.

Tips for ICSA: I know a lot of agents take notes because there is a lot to learn. Not sure what your airline uses, but we use Openskies (mind you it will be changing by the fall to Sabre Sonic.)
Rough breakdown of the two weeks:
days 1-2: sensitivity/proper body mechanics/unruly/other procedures
day 3-5: check in
day6-9:reservation system
That is more or less how my ICSA went.

Good Luck!

Thanks so much for the breakdown!!!!!!!

Now I just need to get the job!!!

But it's nice knowing a little about what's ahead if I get the position!!!! I even went a little overboard yesterday and went to Future Shop to look at Computer Note Books!!! I always wanted one and thought it would be a nice gift to myself if I land the job!!!!!!!!'

Thanks Again!! :D

Air Lab is cutting its Dash-8 Service?? That sucks.

Fiance is a CSA for WJA for over 6 years now, aside from the 4AM starts 5-6 days per week she does like the work, and of course the benefits.

I got into the hiring pool at the same time you guys did but I was unable to attend that training session that was to start right away for the people they needed to fill the void during sabre training. For those of you that are in, what is the situation like where you are? I am waiting eagerly to get in so I hope there is a training session this fall! Looking forward to you guys filling me in!
