I love my little brother and I'd never let him join the army or any other organization whose sole function is to kill people.
Actually most civilized nations maintain a military capability to defend their citizens (which includes you and your little brother) from other people who want to hurt you. A military also provides invaluable search and rescue services, sovereignty and resource protection, aid to the civil power, United Nations peacekeeping, humanitarian aid, and occasionally even shovels snow in Toronto.
My biggest hope is that not only he stays safe but keeps his humanity. It is a very easy conflict to get swept up in and forget who you are or why you are there.

Although I don't think it's the best move, I do wish him all the best and hope for a safe return.

Twenty years from now you'll be more disappointed by the things you didn't do than by the things you did do.
So throw off the bowlines.
Sail away from the safe harbor.
Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover.
Also, don't try to relate to their expirience. Unless you been " there" you have no idea.
Don't ask them how many people they've killed, nor ask them to tell a " cool " story. If they want to tell you about what they saw/ did they will.

I'm sure his bro is a decent guy but once you are alone with a group the peer pressure kicks in. Especially when they are armed. "You are either with ur or against us"...remember that one.
The fact is, any strongly religious person with a gun in his hand and permission to fire it is the #1 threat to freedom. It does not matter what religion it is.
The 5 main points to accurate shooting are positioning, holding, breathing, aiming and trigger control. The secret to being an accurate shot is doing them all the same way correctly every time so that there are only a few more variables to deal with that generally can't be controlled (wind, temperature, precipitation, noise, etc).
Tell your brother to keep his head down.

Having a standard that pilots lose their licence after making a mistake despite doing no harm to aircraft or passengers means soon you needn't worry about a pilot surplus or pilots offering to fly for free. Where do you get your experience from?
Just got back from the airport. Dead proud of the kid. Its 3 months of Ulpan and 3 months of Tironut. So we don't really need to worry about him for at least 6 months.

How about a going away gift

Congrats.
All the best to your brother Niss, hope he stays safe.

A person is going to another country to voluntarily join its army, fight and possibly scarifies his soul to it if needed, which country would be home now ??? Canada ??!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I heard it once, a true Canadian would only spill blood to put the red back into the maple leaf..
I hope your brother comes to Canada safe and doesn't murder any Palestinians.

I have to agree with this sentiment. I really hope your bro comes back to you safe and sound, but I would rather he hadn't gone in the first place.

My brother has dual citizenship as well, so imagine your patriotism for Canada, and your feeling of need to do something for your country or make a big change in your life and try to relate to it that way.
It is no different than those who join the military here. We have feelings of duty and loyalty to two countries.
