Calgary area FBOs
G'day!
In order to build up hours for the CPL, we are going west tomorrow heading to Calgary and from there we'd like to park the plane for a few days and get a car to drive around, probably to Banff area.
Do you Avcanadians from there have any recommendations regarding FBOs on CYYC or even on other airports around where we could park the ship (C-172) and rent a car?
many thanks,
Simon

Re: Calgary area FBOs
Springbank Aero in Springbank would probably be your best bet, car rental also there.
Re: Calgary area FBOs
I would recommend going into Springbank (CYBW) rather than YYC, and like Shamrock said, Springbank Aero is probably your best choice.
Have fun!

All right, Springbank sounds good.
Thanks for that!

There's even a B&B right at CYBW. Last time I checked, the rates looked quite reasonable.

If you're hungry when you land, there's a good little restaurant at the Calgary Flying Club (you'll drive right by it if you drive from Springbank Aero). Alternatively, if you're in the Banff area for dinner, I highly recommend a Cajun place in Canmore called "The French Quarter". It's not in the touristy part of town, so it's survived all these years b/c only of their excellent food.

Thanks guys!
We followed your advices about Springbank Aero and you were right: they provided an excellent service.
Beside that, we did an awesome trip flying almost all across Canada. Quite tirering in less than 10 days (available time frame was short..) but soooo instructive.
FYI, it took 20.2 hours from CYQB to CYBW and 16.2 for the return trip.
Thanks all.
