Enerjet another victim of the Aviation Business ??

Post by pt6_driver »

So the rumour mill going around Calgary this morning was that Enerjet has packed it in and is done?
Bad timing to start a charter / oil sands airline with everything going for crap.

What has anyone else heard?

Sorry to see you guys go if it is indeed true.

Come on guys... lets not speculate. Esp when it could mean that more peers lose their jobs. The story from an inside source is that althought the planes are not super busy "today"... they are quite busy in the office and that the company is doing just fine.

What does it mean to be "busy in the office", my understanding of most airlines is that busy airplanes make money, not busy office workers. Perhaps I'm wrong.

I also thought the same thing, busy airplanes bring home the bacon.

A newer jet has to fly around 300 hours a month to make money.

I'd say anyone who knows anything about this industry (ie T.M. & company), would have had at least 3 yrs funding before they apply for an OC... I wouldn't think they're dead yet.
Nothing to see here...

Looks like the rumor mill is piling up a bunch of crap.

I've heard that no body should be concerned about it at this time as they have lots of money in the bank and things are just beginning to start up for them.

You have to wonder how much it will impact them if the planned Mexico flying falls thru because of the Swine Flu.

Well now that it's official that A.T. has cancelled all of their Mexican flying - what flying is left for Enerjet? And this assumes that Enerjet was even going to fly for A.T?? No formal announcment from either company saying an agreement was reached for capacity....sounds odd to me that they would have an agreement and no announcement from either entity....maybe the Thomson's will finally call in their cash before it all bleeds away.....

And as for all this "exciting" charter work - did you mean cadets? They didn't get a single trip....

Talk about poor timing for a startup. Glad to see they are picking up some maintenance work instead.

They didn't pick up maint work, they came to an agreement to contract it out. But I guess if you don't fly, you don't incur maint expenses.

Actually - generally speaking (swine flu aside), this is the best time for a startup.

As for the Swine flu - I don't think anyone could have forseen that.

So the next question is whether or not it will be another 42 days before they fly again?
