Why are people so negative? if you want it find a way pull your socks up and get at it. make some goals set a plan learn all you can and make it happen.

Yeah, come on. 10% down and just 240 easy payments and you too can own a piston single.

Re: Must Be Nice...
And a Cessna
400 will smoke any Mooney out there and has fixed gear to boot.
Mooneys give me neck aches; I'd rather be slow and comfortable that fast and not. On most jaunts, the Mooney driver probably won't be finished tying down and stretching as I am coming into the pattern with an RV-10. And I will have the $250,000-plus extra dollars I didn't spend and a plane who's design doesn't date to the 50s.

Might want to check those C400 numbers... they're about 10kts slower then the mooney... oh and the Mooney is doing it with 280hp while the C400 has 350hp.

In this list of round the world flights in a single, there are 18 Mooneys and 1 - one - C400 so there you go

Happened to meet Bill Signs, theTexan on the list, in -92 when he was flying around the globe, in, you guessed it, his Mooney

Why does it need to be a new aircraft? Click on:
http://www.trade-a-plane.com/clsfdspecs/815270
Right now is a GREAT time to buy an aircraft - you can
sometimes buy aircraft for HALF of what people are asking!
Dunno why some people whine all the time. Must be part
of the "Canadian" thing.
Years from now, everyone will be looking at airplane prices
now and saying, "I wish I'd bought back then!"
It's weird how people don't like to consider opportunities.
For example, a friend of mine bought a nice little airplane
for us$60k back when the dollar was at par. Six months
afterwards, he was offered us$80k for it, sight unseen,
which was then Cdn$100k.
That's a Cdn$40K profit in six months on Cdn$60k!!
And still people whine ....

Re: Must Be Nice...
Actually, the C400 has 310 hp and only cruises 2 knots slower at optimum altitude (235 vs 237; my data was a little out of date).Invertago wrote:Might want to check those C400 numbers... they're about 10kts slower then the mooney... oh and the Mooney is doing it with 280hp while the C400 has 350hp.
But this is only at maximum altitude (you need masks, canulas aren't enough). For trips done at below 10,000, the C400 is the winner.
If you want to go experimental, it's tough to beat the Lancair IV-P for a four place rocket.

Side Note about the C400 I found interesting, There was a little blurb about fix gear Vs Retract in "Plane and Pilot" A Cessna 400 at FL180 you only sacrifice 7-9 knots and at FL250 it was about 5 knot penalty for a welded gear, and that combined with higher insurance costs for many GA pilots it opened up a larger market. Anyway..................
