People who come into work filthy sick

Post by VikVaughan »

WHY! #$#&#TT#@

The jerk came to work not just sick, but SICK. She has the flu! I'm going to die :(

Actually, I'm just worried that my weekend is about to go out the window. Its a small office, so evryone will get it. Why don't people be a bit more considerate and take a day or two off.

Ugh..

Rockie, On this one we agree. VikV you are disgusting and socially inept person. I bet the opposite sex is breaking down the walls to hang out with you right. But then if you listen to the younger generation talk, Females included, the language would make a truck driver blush 20 years ago. A pretty accurate indicator on the decline of the human race. We can't make our animals come up to our level, so lets go down to theirs.

I honestly don't get how that could be such a bad word.

How is that the worst possible thing that could be said?

I did censor the word, but my apologies, I don't see it as any different than calling a dude a dick, but meaning is different to everyone. I will change my original post.

I'm the younger generation and I know you don't refer to females as cu*ts. Although I catch myself using the word often enough... Some may deserve it though, men in included. The most common use I can think of for that word is "Move it just a c-hair." when you're say, pushing freight or lining something up level. But I usually just say "c" and not "c*nt".

About people coming into work sick... this is one of the biggest pet peeves with me. I literally despise the person sitting next to me coughing phlegm and sneezing and shit. It's like I can feel their sickness infecting me and just want to tell them to beat it. STAY HOME!!! You're doing everyone a favour. This however, is a problem with the amount of sick days... some companies only offer 2 or 3 sick days a year which is a bunch of bullshit, then they say don't fly sick. How is one supposed to get around this problem? If you're sick, you're sick. You can't do anything about it.

Thank you VV. I realize the low bar of acceptable language in front of, or regarding females has pretty much disappeared in today's world. And in most cases the girls themselves are leading the race downhill. But I appreciate you accommodating the old farts like me.

You're absolutely right about people coming to work sick. It is extremely inconsiderate.

Mode C 7500

So I took my kids (5 and 3) to the carnival to ride some rides and eat cotton candy this last weekend. Obviously not all the rides were for them, especially this one where you sit in some chairs and get cranked up 100 feet or so and then dropped.

As we were watching this, a girl who couldn't have been older than 14 screams at the top of her lungs "Holy f*ck me up the a$$!". As she is getting off the ride, she screams it again.

Beautiful, just beautiful! You kiss your mother with that mouth?

Mode C 1200

If you are sick, stay at home! You aren't getting anything done at work and you are going to make the rest of our lives miserable. I've had former employers send employees home with pay just to keep the rest of the employees healthy.

Similarly, during the UK Oz trial for obscenity in 1971, prosecuting counsel asked writer George Melly "Would you call your 10-year-old daughter a c**t?" Melly replied "No, because I don't think she is."[38]

"it is one of the few remaining words in the English language with a genuine power to shock."[2]

This is very true.

iflyforpie, my niece is 14. I have her on my facebook and some of the shit that comes out of those girls mouths is downright revolting. But me and my friends and the girls of my generation were the same way I guess... to a point. But we didn't document it on the internet. They treat pics and status' like threads/blogs... talking about boys and booze... like I said, our generation talked nasty still, but we did have respect for our elders and people around us. We would never mutter/scream obscenities in public or around people we knew. Hell, I still don't swear really in front of my mom. This generation really bugs me, so I can't imagine how the older guys/gals feel about it. :x

Okay, sorry VV for the hi-jack... hey sickies, stay home.

When I worked in a company that had 600 employees in one stupid little box of a call center, we were always getting sick. We had to share our computers and cubicals all the time. We had hand sanitizer around every corner

Maybe not such a bad idea...

I must be old. It never used to be acceptable to refer to females in that manner. Even the sick ones.
Fact is, this 'lady' if you could call her that is a self centered bitch. So she can make a full pay day she feels nothing with regards to the fact that she is infected and possibly contagious. No, she's being a 'trooper' I would say something directly to her face. I probably wouldn't call her a c word but if she gave me any crap I would probably refer to her as a nasty bitch or a c word behind her back. If I got sick, I would probably call her something nasty to her face.

Being sick sucks, but it does happen. I had to cancel a week of flying because I was sick. I mean come off it. If you are so self centered and inept that you feel it is your right to infect others then you are nasty.

Nobody would be up in arms if it was a guy and someone called him an asshole. Part of equality is being called nasty things when you are stupid and self centered.

So rocky, hop back up there on Rosinante and conitnue your quest for a c-wordless world. Obviously all those weak women ned you to protect them. heh.

By the way, Im not a misogynist, in fact the opposite.

I remember an instructor giving me sh*t for being sick. So I came in.

Later that person got really sick and I got in sh*t from their superiors for coming in.

Whatever, that'll learn ya.

No Boosted, they don't need protection. It's just maintaining a minimum standard of class and decorum that is sadly lacking in some.

Btw, my name is Rockie, and Don Quixote's horse was called Rocinante. Also I don't own a horse.

I do want to make clear that I do not go around in public uttering obscenities at people, nor have I personally directed any at her in real life. Sorry  .

But yeah, what gets me the attitude that says "Well.. I'm sick, so what do I care now if anyone else is". A bit of a sniffle or sneeze here or there, no big deal! But when you show up to work sounding like you ought to be in an isolation unit in a hospital.. didn't you think of the other people who were happy and healthy before you showed up. I guess it's worth the extra $100 pay or extra day to add onto vacation.

Well Vik, I consider this a public forum so yes you do utter obsenities at people in public. I have gone to work when I shouldn't have because at 1500 a month minus days not worked, not working was not an option finacially speaking, so what would you have done. Could she be in the same position? What a screwed up job, I am so glad I now have a life.

Alright fair enough.

What would I have done? I would have considered the number of people (quite possibly in the same financial situation as me) whom I could be putting out of commission for a few days by showing up. You staying home affects you. You showing up affects many.

Don Quijote: Rocinante Enamorado Y Los Desalmados Yangüeses (Paperback)

You can order this book at amazon.ca for $7.33, but they are temporarily out of stock. Every google search results in a spelling with a "c", and there is your reference with a "z", but none that I could find with a "s". I am 100% sure Rockie is spelled with an "ie".

Well it was either show up and work (fly) or look for another job. Tough choice when you are just starting out. Skeleton crew levels doesn't allow for days off, sick or not. We operated 6 aircraft with 6 crew, not a word of a lie.

Does the company SMS allow for that?
