I took a long time buying our first aircraft back in 1985. I looked at quite a few and in the end I used an aircraft sales broker. I don't know that you have to do that but in our case it worked out well. The broker had all the logs and he went through them completely (he was also an AME) and he found numerous adding mistakes that benefited us to the total of over 50 hours. He also researched all the AD's and confirmed they had been completed.
