Just Solo'd!!

Post by Aug »

I soloed this weekend and wow, what an experience...

Started the day doing circuits like I have for the last few flight hours (14 at the moment) and then my instructor says that I should call the option...and I start getting nervous.... first one was waived by ATC but the next one was a full stop and then next thing I know I was taxiing to the hold short line by myself...

Didn't really expect it, but man, the plane acts differently when there is one less person on board... really climbs! :D and that also results in a smaller circuit as 1000' get achived much sooner!

The approach was also really interesting... flared a little early and floated to the ground, and that too was different... but wow!! I am happy that this part is now done and it is time to do a whole bunch more! Didn't have a whole lot of time to be nervous as I was really focussed, but, TOO COOL!!

Goin' up! Climb baby!!

Landing was less than perfect, but I have time to work on that :)

Anyone else just solo or about to? Let's hear it!

Nice Job. Looks like Langley. Not easy to solo out of there with that short strip.

Yup, CYNJ it is... I have to pretty well aim for the numbers...

I guess if I can land there I can land anywhere...

Congratulations!!

An older pilot once told me:
"There are 2 things worth living for: Your first solo, and when the doctor walks in to congratulate you as a new papa!"

Congrats! I remember my first solo out of King George Airpark - not too far from langley. Its something I will remember for the rest of my life. 8 hours in on my Ultralight Permit, and I'll never forget applying full power on that grass strip and just after rotation thinking to myself "I cant believe I'm actualy doing this". That day I scratched one more item off my list of things to do in my lifetime. Then came my full stop.... Forced myself to do it because I was shaking like a leaf.

Haha great job!
I got my private license about 3 months ago. My first solo was great! Flying a Cessna 172 and yeah, once your instructor climbs out you can really feel the difference!
I was coming in for landing at CYQS and called for a touch and go, then the instructor came right back saying "stop and go" I knew it was comming!
When he climbed out I wanted to ask "WHERE ARE YOU GOING!?" but I was ready.

.... and it was EPIC
