Congrats wolfie...I hope you nail it.

I really wish I knew why I didn't "pass". Now it's going to bug me all year.

Way to go! I am in the same position you were in (passed the 1st interview yet didn't get a call back for the 2nd one, while also hearing about other people get called in for the 2nd interview). Good luck with the interview!

I applied in YYZ but I think a class is starting up shortly so I guess I won't be in it.

BB: That's strange! Where you going for IFR or VFR? I think usually you get a letter if you are not needed... It took them 2.5 months to get back to me... So maybe your on the back burner for the second set of calls? I really thought I was not going to get a call, but I did, so, don't worry until you get the letter :P

They told us in our Basic IFR course that there are about 800 folks that applied for each spot in the school. Plus with all of the internal Nav Canada retraining happening, there are very spots for folks “off the street” like myself. In my class of 16, 8 are current Nav Can employees from FSS, ATOS etc.

That's funny you mention that because of the internal retraining there's fewer spots available for street guys. Internally, we say the exact same about you guys! :-) Because they're still hiring from the "street" we have fewer spots available for us!

Doesn't matter in the end right? we all get our chances anyway!

Congrats on interview #2!

I don't mind, so long we all get a fair chance.

I still have a little orange light - it's driving me nuts holding my breath :D

Since people like to read this and PM with "did you get your light" I will post this:

And also because I am just so modest...

I GOT A GREEN LIGHT!

Congratulations on getting in.

My first interview was in late April, and I have yet to be called for the final interview. I was told 2 weeks ago that NavCan hasn't started doing interviews for placing the September and October VFR & IFR training groups at Pearson/YYZ yet, and if I am called it'll be by mid to late July.

I'm worried :( But I think I'm ok...I am sure I did well on the phone interview, and it went green. This pretty much means I'm in line for the final interview stage, right? it's still black / pending.

Thanks!

I had fun at the written assessment...

Anyway...

I wouldn't worry. My application started in December... So... Don't worry. It took 6 weeks to get a call for my second interview. I know there are people in YYZ still waiting to hear as well...

Some good news for once! I've been idle since getting the green light for passing the first interview in January.

Update as of Wednesday afternoon:

...yeah, they haven't started the September/October VFR & IFR groups at YYZ yet. No spot has been filled - internally OR externally. No interviews have been conducted either. I was told to expect movement by the beginning of August.

Update: Received a VFR standby training offer.

I am in the IFR stream, however, you can apparently receive both if you don't get in the first and you are a qualified/selected candidate for the second :)

*cough* and ladies *cough*

Just know about Nav Canada. Like any other interview, know about the company you seek employment with, why you would be good, and know about the position you applied for, as well as other positions you could get. (Ie IFR, VFR, FSS)...

I won't give everything away, just be prepared.

Thanks Jakey :) Yes I have... So... Hopefully someone drops out for some sort of nice reason (I wish no harm on anyone!).

Well, I think it went well. At the end I was told not to take any months-long vacations anytime soon.

:D I think I'm in. Now it's just wait & see.
