Hey Cat... Who is M.J.M. Air? Are they what bloomed from the former Air Rainbow? Either way, I hope they find these people alive and well. Cat and others (me included) can tell you how incredibly challenging the flying is this time of year up on the north end of Van Isle. SE`er all the time howling 40 kts, poor vis, etc etc. Lets hope we have a happy ending to this story. Keep us updated as you can .. Fly SAFE all

I'm not sure who MJM air is, its been a while since I was in Campbell River on floats ( 1995 when I had my own float charter business. ) but for sure flying this coast can be very difficult sometimes.

The biggest secret in staying alive is to know your area so good that when things start to go wrong visibility or wind wise you can run for safety to the nearest landing spot that you know.

Two things will kill you out here, glassy water and low ceiling and vis, and engine failure over either open sea , big waves or in the mountains with nowhere flat to land.

It's a tough world on the coast and I sure hope they find them safe.

I HATE to read things like this. Even more when your father flys a beaver up and down the coast. Im not sure who MJM air is but lets hope the best for them.

Met the owner a few years ago at a CASO course; Really nice guy running a small operation and doing what he felt was necessary to run a tight ship. Heard him on the radio this am., seems he's hoping that the flight that was enroute to a camp up Knight Inlet had put it down in a Fjord to wait out the weather. Apparently it's been pretty crappy on the water. Keeping our fingers crossed up here.

I know one of the guys that was on the beaver. He's an inlaw. The immediate family hasn't heard anything yet either.

I've know most of the guys and gals working there and am hoping for the best as well.

Nothing has been heard from the a/c since it left C.R. after a full day of searching so it doesn't look good...if the pilot put it down for a spell you'd think he'd try to contact other a/c in the area the next day or simply fly out, the wx was better today than yesterday BTW. He was heading for Frances Bay near Bute Inlet for a drop and then on to Knight Inlet but apparantly never got to his first stop...nobody seems to know if he headed for Knight when the wx was down at Frances Bay or tried to get in there first. About 100 miles of inlets and mountains to cover in the search area and the crud is supposed to lift a little more tomorrow.

The town is just getting over the loss of a Beaver full of pax in 2001 and this comes too close on it's heels.

Been on these SAR's too often and no sounds from the ELT is ominous. Quiet bays and coves are great points to head for........if the weather/visibility will let you....otherwise. All the best to them....hope they're just wet and that's all.

Sorry to hear that...
Knowing the guy, I'd say the owner is pretty devastated.

I hope they find the rest of the guys aboard the plane, as the man that was found was a very very close relative. My prayers go out to all

Sad day in Campbell River once again.

The body was found only 10 minutes from where the a/c took off and before the first scheduled stop. No oil slick spotted but lots of traffic and lots of people living in and around the southeast end of Quadra Island so you'd think somebody would have heard or seen something. Spent much time there myself boating, diving and flying and wouldn't have expected it, not terribly mountainous and nice wide channels for manouvering...very familiar territory as well to those who work here.

Father and son from one family both on board and mom on TV saying she's still hopeful...so sad...

Well they have identified my cousins husband of almost 10 years today as the man they found yesterday :( It was really hard to hear and see it on the news, let alone hear my cousins voice on the other end of the phone - especially her 10 year old son - but they are super strong and i know will get through this as Dave would have wanted. I really wish this didn't happen, to my family and those who are still waiting for answers.

:(

My deepest sympathy to the relatives and friend of all involved.

It was announced this evening on the news that they have terminated the search and rescue operation. They have found personal posessions in the water and on the shoreline that belonged to some of the other passengers. There was a sonar equipped boat going out this afternoon to search the bottom for any signs of the aircraft.
