Okay, for whatever reason, you can't fly. Your medical went south, or you gave your head a shake and said...."Screw it...."
At any rate, for whatever reason, you've seen the light, and decided to do something else......WHAT WOULD YOU DO??

I've been wondering the same thing - seriously - suggestions welcome. Funny thing is, if I'd kept my first career, I could have retired 9 years ago - 4 years ago with full pension...and I would still have had my Comm./multi/IFR and float and possibly my C172! Be sweet if that Gas station manager job turned out to be an FBO

Own my own fishing charter business, talking people salmon fishing etc either great lakes or Vancouver island. Still might do it as a second career later in life. Just make sure the boat is big enough to sleep on in case all goes south and can't afford a house!

I'm working on a degree, so that's kind of my plan for if I should ever require something to fall back on. Then again, I could do pretty much anything. Maybe go back to farming

Im currently flying part time, and working full time for an outfit that upgrades oil refineries.. Education is the key, something most pilots lack.

Although...even THAT "industry"...has taken a hit. I had to void the option of not having a heated leather steering wheel in my new Porsche.

Funny, we had this discussion the other night in the airplane. I figured I'd see if I'd make it in the ATC world, and if that didn't work out I'd go back into computer programming and network design, the thing I spent six years in university for and then never made use of in the real world. The other option would be to go back and do a Ph.D., which is what I was planning before I had my aviation epiphany.

If the writing career takes off, I'd do that full time. If not, it's back to the machine shop. As it is, I still have to start my flying career to worry about losing it.
