Screening Criteria - TC??

Post by Flybabe »

Just received my official PFO "email" from TC. Apparently I met all the qualifications except the "screening criteria".

Can anyone elaborate? I'm curious, now.

Maybe you should view that as a compliment?!

Just a guess here but the way most government hiring "works" is that an applicant has to demonstrate in their application that they meet all of the elements contained in the Statement of Merit Criteria to have a chance to be "screened in" for further consideration. As I understand it, without being specific in the application, the government system will automatically eliminate those applications that don't satisfy all of the requirements. It doesn't necessarily mean that you don't meet the criteria, just that you didn't successfully demonstrate it.

For example, a current posting on the Public Service Commission site includes the following note:
Additional Requirements / Comments

Only candidates who have successfully demonstrated that they possess the screening criteria of Education, Occupational Certification and Experience will be invited to the second phase of the selection process. Please provide concrete examples. Failure to provide concrete examples may result in your application being screened out without further consideration.
I would say that if you're still interested, the next time a position is posted apply again but try to ensure that you've incorporate examples as to how each element is met.

CD - that could possibly be the case. No worries though, I have a job I enjoy

Threw in an application just to see what would happen. Apparently I might think a bit too "outside of the box" for a gummint job

Snoopy is probably right, there's a compliment in there somewhere lol!!

Let me rephrase that:

I have a job in aviation that I like most of the time.
