Search crews are scouring the area between Anchorage, Alaska, and Whitehorse for a missing plane with two people on board.
Capt. David Burneau of the Victoria Search and Rescue said the male pilot and female passenger were in a small Beechcraft airplane when they disappeared.
The plane left the Anchorage area Saturday night and was expected to land in Whitehorse a few hours later.
Burneau said the pilot filed a flight plan saying he would arrive in the Yukon capital at 8:30 PST, and an hour later Victoria Search and Rescue was alerted that the plane was overdue.
Four U.S. aircraft are searching the American side, while several Canadian search planes and a helicopter are scouring the area between the U.S. border and Whitehorse.

Shitty,
Had an extensive search for a plane on the same route in 99', never did find it after months of looking well after the official search was called off. FedEx f/o if I remember correctly.
Hope they find these two soon, that's tough country..... biggest hills on the continent.

I flew between Anchorage and Whitehorse last summer, that's some pretty wild country and the weather seems to settle in the VFR route like there's some form of magnetic attraction. Hope it turns out alright.

I read something yesterday where they had received cell phone transmissions and those were on the Alaska side, so that is why they concentrated over there.

I remember that, was a pair of aircraft.. one made it, the other didn't. I believe the missing aircraft was flown by an airline pilot, USAir or American, can't remember for sure. I DO remember that the family called in a psychic, as well.sky's the limit wrote:Shitty,

Horrible country to find an aircraft in. Unforgiving.
Courage is the price that life exacts for granting peace. The soul that knows it not, knows no release from the little things; knows not the livid loneliness of fear, nor mountain heights where bitter joy can hear the sound of wings.
